16:30 Lift your voice and sing. Spiritual singing in the African American tradition.
Born in the work fields to alleviate fatigue, and initially performed a cappella accompanied only by the clapping of hands, these songs were not only an expression of spirituality and devotion but a means to shout to the world their desire for freedom.

16:30 Uhr Lift your voice and sing. Der geistliche Gesang in der afroamerikanischen Tradition.
Entstanden in den Arbeitslagern zur Linderung der Mühe und zunächst a cappella begleitet nur vom Klang der Hände, waren diese Lieder nicht nur Ausdruck von Spiritualität und Hingabe, sondern auch ein Mittel, um der Welt den eigenen Wunsch nach Freiheit zuzurufen.
