La Fondazione di Studi Tiziano e Cadore propone una visita a Palazzo Monti Giacobbi, uno degli esempi più significativi della civiltà delle ville venete sviluppatasi ad alta quota, testimonianza rara di come il modello architettonico e culturale della villa di terraferma abbia trovato espressione anche nelle vallate alpine del Cadore.
L'Estate tizianesca ritorna a Palazzo Monti Giacobbi di Candide nel ciclo delle Promenade in villa tra arte e natura.
Costruito nella prima metà del Seicento dalla famiglia Monti, notai e facoltosi commercianti di legname, appassionati d’arte e mecenati per generazioni, il palazzo conserva interni decorati da cicli di tempere a soggetto mitologico realizzati da Giovanni Demin e dalla sua scuola quando venne ospitato a palazzo mentre dipingeva la pala della chiesa.
Alla caduta della Repubblica Veneta, Osvaldo Antonio Monti fu inviato a Passariano come ambasciatore incaricato di trattare con Napoleone.
La sua abilità oratoria fu tale da ottenere dall’imperatore importanti concessioni per salvaguardare l’economia cadorina. Analogo ruolo ebbe con gli austriaci, ai quali si oppose con fermezza.
Uomo colto e illuminato, possedeva la prima edizione dell’Enciclopedie di Diderot, che arricchiva la biblioteca e raccoglieva tutto il sapere nei suoi trentanove volumi.
Durante la Prima guerra mondiale l’edificio fu occupato dagli austriaci e furono rubati l’Enciclopedie ed un servizio di bicchieri regalati da Napoleone in occasione del terzo incontro di Parigi.
Da anni Alvise Giacobbi è impegnato nel complesso restauro del palazzo e nel ricollocarvi gli antichi arredi e le suppellettili che nei secoli si sono salvate.
Quasi per miracolo è ricomparsa nella biblioteca anche la prima edizione della monumentale opera di Diderot.
Una storia che l’attuale discendente racconta attraverso una serie di aneddoti intrecciati con la storia del Cadore, tra Venezia, i francesi e gli austriaci.
Un’atmosfera che si percepisce varcando la soglia del palazzo circondato dagli alpeggi e dai boschi del Comelico, quasi in contrasto con la raffinatezza degli interni: ora il paesaggio diviene predominante e accompagna il visitatore in un dialogo continuo tra natura, storia e arte. Ogni finestra del palazzo è un quadro sulla natura.

The Tiziano and Cadore Studies Foundation offers a visit to Palazzo Monti Giacobbi, one of the most significant examples of the civilization of Venetian villas developed at high altitude, a rare testimony of how the architectural and cultural model of the mainland villa found expression even in the alpine valleys of Cadore.
The Tizianesca Summer returns to Palazzo Monti Giacobbi in Candide during the series of Promenade in villa between art and nature.
Built in the first half of the Seventeenth century by the Monti family, notaries and wealthy timber merchants, art enthusiasts and patrons for generations, the palace preserves interiors decorated with cycles of tempera on mythological subjects created by Giovanni Demin and his school when he was hosted at the palace while painting the altarpiece for the church.
Upon the fall of the Venetian Republic, Osvaldo Antonio Monti was sent to Passariano as ambassador tasked with negotiating with Napoleon.
His oratory skills were such that he obtained important concessions from the emperor to safeguard the economy of Cadore. He played a similar role with the Austrians, whom he firmly opposed.
A cultured and enlightened man, he owned the first edition of Diderot's Encyclopedia, which enriched the library and gathered all knowledge in its thirty-nine volumes.
During World War I, the building was occupied by the Austrians, and the Encyclopedia and a set of glasses gifted by Napoleon on the occasion of the third meeting in Paris were stolen.
For years, Alvise Giacobbi has been engaged in the complex restoration of the palace and in relocating the ancient furnishings and furnishings that have been salvaged over the centuries.
The first edition of Diderot's monumental work has also reappeared in the library, almost by miracle.
A story that the current descendant tells through a series of anecdotes intertwined with the history of Cadore, between Venice, the French, and the Austrians.

Die Fondazione di Studi Tiziano e Cadore bietet einen Besuch im Palazzo Monti Giacobbi an, einem der bedeutendsten Beispiele der Zivilisation der venetischen Villen, die sich in großer Höhe entwickelt hat, ein seltenes Zeugnis dafür, wie das architektonische und kulturelle Modell der Landvilla auch in den alpinen Tälern des Cadore Ausdruck gefunden hat.
Der tizianeske Sommer kehrt zurück in den Palazzo Monti Giacobbi in Candide im Rahmen der Promenade in villa zwischen Kunst und Natur.
Der Palazzo wurde in der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts von der Familie Monti, Notaren und wohlhabenden Holzfarmern, die seit Generationen kunstbegeistert und Mäzene waren, erbaut und beherbergt Innenräume, die mit farbenfrohen Fresken zu mythologischen Themen von Giovanni Demin und seiner Schule dekoriert sind, als dieser im Palazzo untergebracht war, während er das Altarbild der Kirche malte.
Nach dem Fall der Venezianischen Republik wurde Osvaldo Antonio Monti als Botschafter nach Passariano geschickt, um mit Napoleon zu verhandeln.
Seine Redekunst war so bemerkenswert, dass er vom Kaiser wichtige Zugeständnisse erhielt, um die Wirtschaft des Cadore zu schützen. Eine ähnliche Rolle spielte er gegenüber den Österreichern, denen er mit Entschlossenheit gegenübertrat.
Ein gebildeter und aufgeklärter Mann, besaß er die erste Ausgabe der Enzyklopädie von Diderot, die die Bibliothek bereicherte und das gesamte Wissen in seinen neununddreißig Bänden sammelte.
Während des Ersten Weltkriegs wurde das Gebäude von den Österreichern besetzt und die Enzyklopädie sowie ein Gläser-Set, das Napoleon anlässlich des dritten Treffens in Paris geschenkt hatte, wurden gestohlen.
Seit Jahren ist Alvise Giacobbi mit der aufwendigen Restaurierung des Palastes beschäftigt und bemüht sich, die antiken Möbel und Einrichtungsgegenstände, die sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte gerettet haben, wieder an ihren Platz zu bringen.
Fast wie durch ein Wunder ist in der Bibliothek auch die erste Ausgabe des monumentalen Werks von Diderot wieder aufgetaucht.
Eine Geschichte, die der gegenwärtige Nachfahre durch eine Reihe von Anekdoten erzählt, die mit der Geschichte des Cadore verwoben sind, zwischen Venedig, den Franzosen und den Österreichern.
Eine Atmosphäre, die man beim Betreten des Palastes wahrnimmt, umgeben von Almen und Wäldern des Comelico, fast im Gegensatz zur Raffinesse der Innenräume: Jetzt wird die Landschaft dominant und begleitet den Besucher in einen kontinuierlichen Dialog zwischen Natur, Geschichte und Kunst. Jedes Fenster des Palastes ist ein Bild der Natur.
