Descrizione

The Ex Tempore of Wood Sculpture is a competition, organized by the Consortium Belluno Historic Center, which for years has been the most awaited event of the Belluno autumn, during the period leading up to the beloved feast of the Patron Saint San Martino (November 11).

Established in the now distant 1986, the event is one of the most important national exhibitions for popularity and tradition: participants in the symposium come from all over Italy.

Day after day, amidst the scent of larch wood and the sounds of chisels and chainsaws, sculptors animate the streets and squares of the historic center, forming their works under the curious gaze of passersby young and old.

The inauguration of the Festival Belluno City of Wood and the 40th Ex Tempore of Wood Sculpture will take place on Tuesday November 3 at the Noble Hall of the Fulcis Museum at 11:30 a.m.

This will be an opportunity to reaffirm how important wood is to the city and province of Belluno: what it means for our identity as mountain inhabitants, as well as for our present and the future we envision.

It is a material at the center of numerous challenges, many of which have already been faced in the past by the hands of expert craftsmen.

With this exhibition, we aim to involve the wide audience in the discovery of this material as the protagonist of our past, our present, and our future.
