Descrizione

For the first time in Asolo, an exhibition dedicated to the rediscovery of one of the international guardians of the aesthetic sensitivity of the Belle Époque: from October 10 to December 13, 2026, Itaca Gallery is showcasing a set of 34 original drawings by Adolf Hirémy-Hirschl.

For this exhibition De corpore sacro. The nude as a symbolic form, articulated in three thematic sections – Corpus Lapsum (the fallen body), Corpus Velatum (the veiled body), and Corpus Offerens (the offered body), Asolo is not just a simple spatial frame, but the logical fulfillment of an aesthetic narrative. When Hirschl arrived in Rome in 1898, the capital was permeated by the myth of Gabriele D'Annunzio's "inimitable living" and the revolutionary theater of Eleonora Duse. Hirschl drew exactly what D'Annunzio wrote and what Duse performed: the body as a temple, the fall as ecstasy, the drapery that hides and reveals.

In Asolo, the "city of a hundred horizons," which holds the memory of the Divine and embodies a crossroads of personalities and stories, the exhibition thus creates an ideal dialogue and a cultural bridge between the workshop drawing and the theatrical relic: that body which Hirschl drew as a sacred symbol and which Duse turned into living poetry on stage finds in Asolo its eternal memory and its ideal final abode.

The exhibition is organized by Itaca Investimenti d’Arte with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Asolo and the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Treviso.
