Nato alla fine del 1786, il Trio k 502 è il secondo lavoro appartenente alla serie di composizioni dedicate a questo organico, destinato ad esecuzioni private, spesso in ambienti intimi e familiari. Questa pagina, pur adottando un linguaggio semplice per forma e contenuto, non rinuncia ad uno spiccato virtuosismo nella parte pianistica e ad una scrittura sempre più autonoma da parte degli archi, non più semplice rinforzo del pianoforte, ma “voci” autonome e concertanti.
Completato nell’estate del 1788, il Trio K 542 fu una della pagine predilette da Chopin, che lo eseguiva spesso nei suoi concerti. Questa composizione, nella rara tonalità di mi maggiore, colpisce per l’ampiezza e il carattere sperimentale sia nella costruzione formale che nell’armonia.

“...I consider it the best thing I have ever written.” With these words, Wolfgang describes his creation (K 452) to his father Leopold, featuring an unprecedented instrumentation for the time. A masterpiece of balance between intimacy and convention, an example of refined chamber music in the perfect balance among the different “voices”, it reaches in the “Larghetto”, simple and transparent, yet profound and dreamy, one of the peaks of writing for wind instruments.
Born in Paris, during the unfortunate trip of 1778, the Sinfonia Concertante k 297b is perhaps the strangest and most twisted case in the history of Mozart's production.
The original score, which included the use of the flute but not the clarinet, disappeared at the hands of the copyist. The manuscript was never found again but appeared much later in the Berlin State Library, a copy of the Symphony with a soloistic instrumentation different from the original: the oboe in the part initially assigned to the flute, and the clarinet instead of the oboe. It has always been thought that the composer rewrote it from memory, changing the instrumentation: beyond any unresolved mystery, we are faced with a brilliant and grand page that showcases the virtuosic and singing possibilities of each instrument.

„...ich halte es für das Beste, was ich je geschrieben habe.“ Mit diesen Worten beschreibt Wolfgang seinem Vater Leopold seine Schöpfung (das K 452), mit einer wirklich neuartigen Besetzung für die damalige Zeit. Ein Meisterwerk des Gleichgewichts zwischen Intimität und Konvention, ein Beispiel für raffinierte Kammermusik im perfekten Verhältnis der verschiedenen „Stimmen“, erreicht im „Larghetto“, schlicht und transparent, aber gleichzeitig tief und träumerisch, einen der Höhepunkte des Schreibens für Blasinstrumente.
Entstanden in Paris während der unglücklichen Reise von 1778, ist die Konzertante Symphonie K 297b vielleicht der seltsamste und verworrenste Fall in der Geschichte der mozartischen Produktion.
Die Originalpartitur, die die Verwendung der Flöte, aber nicht der Klarinette sah, verschwand durch die Hand des Kopisten. Das Manuskript wurde nie wieder gefunden, tauchte aber viel später in der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin auf, eine Kopie der Symphonie mit einer solistischen Besetzung, die von der ursprünglichen abweicht: die Oboe in der ursprünglich der Flöte zugewiesenen Partie, und die Klarinette anstelle der Oboe. Man hat immer gedacht, dass der Komponist sie aus dem Gedächtnis umschrieb und die Besetzung änderte: jenseits jedes ungelösten Rätsels stehen wir vor einem glänzenden und grandiosen Stück, das die virtuosen Möglichkeiten und die Singbarkeit jedes Instruments zur Schau stellt.
