Una mostra straordinaria dedicata a Paolo Poli, figura unica nel panorama teatrale italiano del Novecento, ospitata nella galleria di Palazzo Thiene. Un omaggio al suo estro, alla sua ironia e alla libertà creativa che ha attraversato generi, epoche e tabù.
Locandine, fotografie in bianco e nero e a colori, che ripercorrono la carriera di un artista che ha fatto del palcoscenico il luogo di un’eleganza sovversiva, di una comicità raffinata e irriverente e che saputo essere al tempo stesso popolare e coltissimo, spiazzante e profondo.
La mostra, in collaborazione con l’Istituto per il Teatro e il Melodramma della Fondazione Giorgio Cini di Venezia, si inserisce nel Festival ‘Be Popular’ e ne impreziosisce la proposta culturale. Un viaggio immersivo tra travestimenti, parodie e poesia, per scoprire o riscoprire il fascino senza tempo di un maestro del teatro italiano.
Paolo Poli (Firenze, 23 maggio 1929 – Roma, 25 marzo 2016) è attore, cantante, regista, autore. Dotato di una cifra stilistica molto personale, è il rappresentante di un teatro al contempo graffiante e lieve, raffinato e dissacrante, che prende le mosse dall’operetta, dalla rivista, dal vaudeville, dall’avanspettacolo e dal varietà, ma che è, tuttavia, difficilmente inquadrabile in definizioni di genere e contenuto.

An extraordinary exhibition dedicated to Paolo Poli, a unique figure in the Italian theatrical landscape of the twentieth century, hosted in the Palazzo Thiene gallery. A tribute to his genius, his irony, and the creative freedom that traversed genres, eras, and taboos.
Posters, black and white and color photographs, retracing the career of an artist who made the stage a place of subversive elegance, refined and irreverent comedy, managing to be both popular and erudite, surprising and profound.
The exhibition, in collaboration with the Institute for Theatre and Melodrama of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, is part of the 'Be Popular' Festival and enriches its cultural offering. An immersive journey through disguises, parodies, and poetry, to discover or rediscover the timeless charm of a master of Italian theater.
Paolo Poli (Florence, May 23, 1929 – Rome, March 25, 2016) was an actor, singer, director, and author. Endowed with a very personal stylistic signature, he represents a theater that is both biting and light, refined and irreverent, which draws from operetta, revue, vaudeville, variety shows, yet is, however, difficult to categorize in terms of genre and content.
Eine außergewöhnliche Ausstellung, die Paolo Poli gewidmet ist, einer einzigartigen Figur im italienischen Theater des 20. Jahrhunderts, die in der Galerie des Palazzo Thiene stattfindet. Eine Hommage an seinen Einfallsreichtum, seinen Humor und die kreative Freiheit, die durch Genres, Epochen und Tabus hindurchging.
Plakate, schwarz-weiße und farbige Fotografien, die die Karriere eines Künstlers nachzeichnen, der die Bühne zum Ort einer subversiven Eleganz, einer raffinierten und respektlosen Komik gemacht hat und der es verstand, gleichzeitig populär und gebildet, verblüffend und tiefgründig zu sein.
Die Ausstellung, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut für Theater und Melodram der Giorgio Cini Stiftung in Venedig, ist Teil des Festivals ‘Be Popular’ und bereichert dessen kulturelles Angebot. Eine immersive Reise zwischen Verkleidungen, Parodien und Poesie, um den zeitlosen Reiz eines Meisters des italienischen Theaters zu entdecken oder wiederzuentdecken.
Paolo Poli (Florenz, 23. Mai 1929 – Rom, 25. März 2016) ist Schauspieler, Sänger, Regisseur, Autor. Er zeichnet sich durch einen sehr persönlichen Stil aus und repräsentiert ein Theater, das zugleich scharf und zart, raffiniert und entheiligend ist, das seinen Ausgangspunkt in der Operette, dem Varieté, dem Vaudeville und dem Kabarett nimmt, dabei jedoch nur schwer in Genres und Inhalte einzuordnen ist.
