Being prisoners does not necessarily mean being behind bars. Sometimes imprisonment can be a place, a person, a memory, a physical or mental condition. Other times it is something more subtle, difficult to recognize: prisons that we carry with us, like a weight.
Guiding us on this journey will be Marco Cantoni, born in '94, booktuber and creator who has been sharing his passion for books through his YouTube channel and Instagram page since 2017, building a community over the years that is attentive to the world of reading.
After years of activity and content dedicated to books, what began as a passion has transformed into a true professional path, leading him in 2024 to the founding of Cantoni Editore, an independent publishing house from Verona. The publishing house was created with the aim of establishing a literary reference point, placing the artistic quality of the works it proposes at the center.
The evening will begin with Marco Cantoni, who will recount his journey and present Cantoni Editore along with its five new titles. Five different books in stories and languages, united by a common thread: imprisonment, explored by each author through a different perspective and story.
Following this, Marco will introduce the film chosen for the evening, Tom à la ferme, the debut film by Xavier Dolan from 2014, selected for its ability to portray a form of imprisonment that goes beyond the physical.
The five books will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
At the end of the screening, there will be an open debate for the public to discuss the film and the various forms of imprisonment that emerged during the evening.
Food and drinks will also accompany the evening, the latter kindly offered by the Enoteca Il Gusto & il Bere.
