Il Congresso Mondiale Shakespeariano (World Shakespeare Congress) 2026 coincide col 50° anniversario dell'International Shakespeare Association.
Il grande evento si terrà a Verona, città shakespeariana nel mondo per eccellenza, dal 20 al 26 luglio.
L’evento si svolgerà in questo straordinario crocevia dell'Europa antica e moderna, un Sito Patrimonio UNESCO, oltre che ambientazione di The Two Gentlemen e di Romeo and Juliet.
Il WSC affronterà attraverso lo studio delle opere shakespeariane questioni centrali alla nostra cultura contemporanea, prediligendo temi inerenti al futuro del nostro pianeta e degli esseri umani.
Il Congresso promuoverà una discussione sui molti modi in cui Shakespeare può essere concepito come 'planetario', aprendo a dialoghi su temi legati alla globalità, al postumano e al virtuale.
Il Congresso prevede un fitto calendario di eventi che si svolgeranno in diversi luoghi nel centro della città di Verona: i Poli Universitari di Santa Marta, Zanotto e Lingue e Letterature straniere, la Società Letteraria di Verona, la Tomba di Giulietta e il Museo degli Affreschi di G. B. Cavalcaselle, il Museo di Storia Naturale – Palazzo Pompei.
The 2026 World Shakespeare Congress will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the International Shakespeare Association.
This major event will take place in Verona—arguably the most quintessential Shakespearean city in the world—from July 20 to 26.
The Congress will unfold in this extraordinary crossroads of ancient and modern Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting of The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Romeo and Juliet.
Through the study of Shakespeare’s works, the WSC will engage with key issues of contemporary culture, with a focus on themes related to the future of our planet and humanity.
The Congress will promote discussion on the many ways in which Shakespeare can be understood as "planetary", opening up dialogues on topics such as globality, the posthuman, and the virtual.
A rich programme of events will be held across various venues in the historic centre of Verona, including the University campuses of Santa Marta, Zanotto, and Foreign Languages and Literatures; the Società Letteraria di Verona; Juliet’s Tomb and the G. B. Cavalcaselle Fresco Museum; and the Natural History Museum at Palazzo Pompei.

Das große Ereignis findet vom 20. bis 26. Juli in Verona statt, der weltweit führenden Shakespeare-Stadt.
Die Veranstaltung wird an diesem außergewöhnlichen Schnittpunkt des antiken und modernen Europas stattfinden, einem UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe, das zudem die Kulisse für The Two Gentlemen und Romeo und Julia bietet.
Der WSC wird durch das Studium der Werke Shakespeares zentrale Fragen unserer zeitgenössischen Kultur ansprechen, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf Themen liegen wird, die die Zukunft unseres Planeten und der Menschheit betreffen.
Der Kongress wird eine Diskussion über die vielen Möglichkeiten anregen, wie Shakespeare als 'planetarisch' betrachtet werden kann, und eröffnet Dialoge über Themen im Zusammenhang mit Globalität, Posthumanismus und dem Virtuellen.
Der Kongress beinhaltet ein dichtes Veranstaltungsprogramm, das an verschiedenen Orten im Stadtzentrum von Verona stattfinden wird: die Universitätsstandorte Santa Marta, Zanotto und Fremdsprachen und Literaturen, die Literarische Gesellschaft von Verona, das Grab von Julia und das Freskenmuseum von G. B. Cavalcaselle sowie das Naturhistorische Museum – Palazzo Pompei.
