Umberto Galimberti compie un viaggio sul concetto d’anima attraverso il pensiero dei due testimoni più importanti dell’Occidente: Platone e Nietzsche. Nella storia dell’anima percorsa dall’autore, egli inizia la sua indagine partendo dalla considerazione che nella tradizione omerica l’anima è come ombra, infatti per Omero significava l’ultimo respiro dell’uomo. Successivamente Platone introduce il concetto di anima e la emancipa dalla tradizione religiosa all’esperienza politica nella quale troverà la sua espressione più alta, il filosofo reggitore della città. Il professor Galimberti descrive, successivamente, un altro concetto filosofico esposto ampiamente nel libro, la seduzione dell’anima, ed infine termina con l’analisi dell’anima nella sua profondità che altro non è che lo studio delle scienze psicologiche.
Umberto Galimberti, professore incaricato dell’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia, è membro ordinario dell’International Association for Analytical Psychology e dal 2003 è vicepresidente dell’Associazione Italiana per la Consulenza Filosofica “Phronesis”. Collabora ed è opinionista del quotidiano La Repubblica .

Umberto Galimberti embarks on a journey through the concept of soul via the thoughts of the two most important witnesses of the West: Plato and Nietzsche. In the history of the soul explored by the author, he begins his inquiry by considering that in Homeric tradition the soul is like a shadow, as for Homer it meant the last breath of man. Subsequently, Plato introduces the concept of the soul and emancipates it from religious tradition to the political experience in which it will find its highest expression, the philosopher governing the city. Professor Galimberti then describes another philosophical concept extensively discussed in the book, the seduction of the soul, and finally concludes with the analysis of the soul in its depth which is nothing but the study of psychological sciences.
Umberto Galimberti, an appointed professor at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, is a regular member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology and has been vice president of the Italian Association for Philosophical Consulting “Phronesis” since 2003. He collaborates and serves as an opinion columnist for the daily La Repubblica .

Umberto Galimberti unternimmt eine Reise zum Konzept der Seele durch das Denken der zwei wichtigsten Zeugen des Westens: Platon und Nietzsche. In der von dem Autor durchgeführten Geschichte der Seele beginnt er seine Untersuchung mit der Überlegung, dass in der homerischen Tradition die Seele wie Schatten ist, denn für Homer bedeutete es den letzten Atemzug des Menschen. Danach führt Platon das Konzept der Seele ein und emanzipiert sie von der religiösen Tradition hin zur politischen Erfahrung, in der sie ihren höchsten Ausdruck finden wird, der philosophische Regierende der Stadt. Professor Galimberti beschreibt anschließend ein weiteres philosophisches Konzept, das im Buch ausführlich dargelegt wird, die Verführung der Seele, und schließlich endet er mit der Analyse der Seele in ihrer Tiefe, die nichts anderes ist als das Studium der psychologischen Wissenschaften.
Umberto Galimberti, außerordentlicher Professor an der Universität Ca’ Foscari in Venedig, ist ordentliches Mitglied der International Association for Analytical Psychology und seit 2003 Vizepräsident der Italienischen Vereinigung für Philosophische Beratung “Phronesis”. Er arbeitet mit und ist Kolumnist der Tageszeitung La Repubblica .
