Una delle opere più simboliche e misteriose del repertorio elisabettiano di Shakespeare prende vita sul palco del Teatro Romano di Verona, per due importanti serate il 24 e 25 luglio.
Con la sua inconfondibile cifra poetica e visionaria, il regista argentino Alfredo Arias realizza un allestimento poetico e originale, capace di coinvolgere il pubblico, facendolo immergere nel suo mondo costruito con un linguaggio universalmente riconoscibile.
Il protagonista de La Tempesta è l’attore Graziano Piazza, che interpreta il ruolo di Prospero: il mago, il demiurgo, il sovrano dell’isola su cui approdano i naufraghi di una tempesta che egli stesso ha scatenato.
Prospero, legittimo duca di Milano, è stato destituito da suo fratello Antonio con l’aiuto di Alonso, re di Napoli, e abbandonato in mare con sua figlia Miranda. Dopo dodici lunghi anni di esilio su un’isola, con l’aiuto di Ariel – uno spirito che ha liberato dal dominio della strega Sicorace e che ora è al suo servizio – Prospero scatenerà una Tempesta.
Una nave su cui viaggiano i suoi antichi nemici naufragherà sulle coste dell’isola ed avrà così inizio una rappresentazione in cui Prospero, al pari di un abile regista, orchestrerà vari episodi che porteranno i suoi avversari a vivere intrighi e tradimenti. Sarà la saggezza e la magia di Prospero a svelare la vera natura dei traditori e alla luce delle sue stesse bassezze, il duca deposto concederà loro il suo perdono. L’isola diventa così il teatro incantato in cui Prospero ci mostra i meandri da percorrere per giungere al perdono.

The protagonist of The Tempest is actor Graziano Piazza, who plays the role of Prospero: the magician, the demiurge, the ruler of the island where the shipwrecked people arrive after a storm he himself has unleashed.
Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, has been deposed by his brother Antonio with the help of Alonso, King of Naples, and abandoned at sea with his daughter Miranda. After twelve long years of exile on an island, with the help of Ariel – a spirit he freed from the witch Sicorace's dominion and who is now at his service – Prospero will unleash a tempest.
A ship carrying his ancient enemies will shipwreck on the shores of the island, and thus begins a performance in which Prospero, like a skilled director, orchestrates various episodes that will lead his adversaries to experience intrigues and betrayals. It will be Prospero's wisdom and magic that reveal the true nature of the traitors, and in light of his own baseness, the deposed duke will grant them his forgiveness. The island thus becomes the enchanted theater in which Prospero shows us the paths to follow to achieve forgiveness.
