The review Changing Landscapes, organized by the Benetton Foundation and curated by Simonetta Zanon, continues with the screening of the film What Remains When the Sea Moves by Gaetano Crivaro (Italy, 2026, 67’).
Participating are the director Gaetano Crivaro and Marco Pavan (documentary filmmaker and photographer).
The film: In Sardinia, at the end of summer, winds and rains sweep away beach umbrellas, kiosks, and mass tourism. When the sea begins to move again, scholars and volunteers attempt to collect the fragments left behind by summer, while the coast regains an intimate and collected atmosphere. Amid dreams, broken promises, and an uncertain future, the film explores the lives of seasonal workers during the months of inactivity and the story of a contested space at the boundary between land and sea.
The director: Gaetano Crivaro (1983), director and photographer, co-directed Final Rondo and In the Penal Colony. With What Remains When the Sea Moves, he won the Best Cinematic Innovation award at the Bellaria Film Festival 2026.
