Il documentario narra della tragica scomparsa del jogger Andrea Papi, un’esplorazione sulla convivenza tra uomini e orsi nelle Alpi del Nord Italia, tra tutela della natura e sicurezza.
In nessun’altra parte del mondo orsi ed esseri umani vivono a così stretto contatto come in Trentino.
Tuttavia, con la crescita della popolazione di orsi, aumentano anche gli incontri pericolosi tra uomini e animali. Il team di 20 persone, composto da ranger e veterinari, che si occupa contemporaneamente della protezione di persone e animali, si trova ad affrontare un compito particolarmente importante.
Quando Andrea Papi, 26 anni, viene trovato morto nella foresta durante la Pasqua del 2023, emerge rapidamente un cupo sospetto: Papi è stato ucciso dall’orsa JJ4. Questo incidente segna la prima morte causata da un animale selvatico in Europa centrale nella storia recente. Mentre i forestali cercano di catturare JJ4,
il conflitto tra gli attivisti per i diritti degli animali e gli oppositori dell’orso raggiunge un punto critico, sollevando domande urgenti: JJ4 deve essere uccisa? Come gestire il ritorno dei grandi predatori nelle nostre foreste? Quando gli orsi diventano un problema? E chi è il vero proprietario della natura e della foresta?

The documentary chronicles the tragic disappearance of jogger Andrea Papi, an exploration of the coexistence between humans and bears in the Northern Italian Alps, balancing nature conservation and safety.
Nowhere else in the world do bears and humans live in such close proximity as in Trentino.
However, with the growing bear population, dangerous encounters between humans and animals are also increasing. The team of 20 people, consisting of rangers and veterinarians, tasked with protecting both people and animals, faces a particularly important challenge.
When 26-year-old Andrea Papi is found dead in the forest during Easter 2023, a grim suspicion quickly emerges: Papi was killed by the bear JJ4. This incident marks the first death caused by a wild animal in Central Europe in recent history. As forest officials attempt to capture JJ4,
the conflict between animal rights activists and bear opponents reaches a critical point, raising urgent questions: Should JJ4 be killed? How to manage the return of large predators to our forests? When do bears become a problem? And who is the true owner of nature and the forest?

Die Dokumentation erzählt von dem tragischen Verschwinden des Joggers Andrea Papi, einer Erforschung des Zusammenlebens zwischen Menschen und Bären in den Alpen Norditaliens, zwischen Naturschutz und Sicherheit.
In keiner anderen Region der Welt leben Bären und Menschen so nah beieinander wie im Trentino.
Die wachsende Bärenpopulation führt jedoch auch zu gefährlichen Begegnungen zwischen Menschen und Tieren. Das 20-köpfige Team aus Rangern und Tierärzten, das gleichzeitig für den Schutz von Menschen und Tieren verantwortlich ist, steht vor einer besonders wichtigen Aufgabe.
Als Andrea Papi, 26 Jahre alt, während des Osterfestes 2023 tot im Wald aufgefunden wird, kommt schnell ein düsterer Verdacht auf: Papi wurde von der Bärin JJ4 getötet. Dieser Vorfall markiert den ersten Todesfall durch ein Wildtier in Mitteleuropa in der jüngeren Geschichte. Während die Förster versuchen, JJ4 einzufangen,
erreicht der Konflikt zwischen Tierschutzaktivisten und Bärengegnern einen kritischen Punkt und wirft dringende Fragen auf: Muss JJ4 getötet werden? Wie geht man mit der Rückkehr großer Raubtiere in unsere Wälder um? Wann werden Bären zu einem Problem? Und wer ist der wahre Eigentümer der Natur und des Waldes?
