I Bluvertigo nascono a Monza all’inizio degli anni ’90 attorno a Morgan e Andy, definendo subito un’identità sonora e visiva fuori dagli schemi: un incontro ad alta tensione tra rock, new wave ed elettronica, con una cura quasi ossessiva per arrangiamenti, estetica e immaginario.
A fine anni ’90 arriva anche il riconoscimento internazionale: nel 1998 vincono agli MTV Europe Music Awards come miglior artista/gruppo dell’Europa del Sud. Pur attraversata da pause e ritorni, la loro storia mantiene una linea artistica nitida: dalla partecipazione a Sanremo 2001 con “L’assenzio” alle successive riprese di attività, la band resta un punto fermo capace di parlare a pubblici diversi. Nell’ultima reunion la formazione è quella storica: Morgan (voce e basso), Andy (tastiere/synth e sax), Livio Magnini (chitarre) e Sergio Carnevale (batteria e percussioni).
I Bluvertigo hanno sviluppato un linguaggio raro nel panorama italiano: incastri ritmici rigorosi, sound design elettronico trattato come materia “strumentale”, chitarre lavorate con sensibilità industrial/new wave e una scrittura che sa tenere insieme sperimentazione e forma-canzone. Questa attenzione al dettaglio – timbri, dinamiche, costruzione dei brani e coerenza visiva – ne ha consolidato lo status di culto e ha lasciato un’impronta nel modo di intendere l’alternative in Italia.
Bluvertigo was born in Monza in the early '90s around Morgan and Andy, immediately defining a sound and visual identity outside the box: a high-tension meeting between rock, new wave, and electronics, with an almost obsessive attention to arrangements, aesthetics, and imagery.
By the late '90s, they also gained international recognition: in 1998, they won at the MTV Europe Music Awards as the best artist/group from Southern Europe. Even though their history has included breaks and comebacks, it maintains a clear artistic line: from their participation in Sanremo 2001 with "L’assenzio" to subsequent resurgences, the band remains a steadfast point capable of connecting with diverse audiences. In their latest reunion, the lineup is the original: Morgan (vocals and bass), Andy (keyboards/synth and sax), Livio Magnini (guitars), and Sergio Carnevale (drums and percussion).
Bluvertigo has developed a rare language in the Italian music scene: rigorous rhythmic patterns, electronic sound design treated as "instrumental" material, guitars processed with industrial/new wave sensitivity, and songwriting that manages to balance experimentation and song form. This attention to detail – timbres, dynamics, song construction, and visual coherence – has solidified their cult status and left a mark on the way alternative music is understood in Italy.
Die Bluvertigo entstehen Anfang der 90er Jahre in Monza um Morgan und Andy und definieren sofort eine klangliche und visuelle Identität jenseits der Normen: eine Hochspannung zwischen Rock, New Wave und Elektronik, mit einem fast obsessiven Augenmerk auf Arrangements, Ästhetik und Imagery.
Ende der 90er Jahre kommt auch die internationale Anerkennung: 1998 gewinnen sie bei den MTV Europe Music Awards als bester Künstler/Gruppe aus Südeuropa. Trotz Pausen und Comebacks bleibt ihre Geschichte künstlerisch klar: von der Teilnahme am Sanremo 2001 mit “L’assenzio” bis zu den anschließenden Rückkehr zur aktiven Tätigkeit bleibt die Band ein fester Anker, der verschiedene Publikum ansprechen kann. In der letzten Reunion ist die Besetzung die historische: Morgan (Gesang und Bass), Andy (Keyboards/Synth und Saxophon), Livio Magnini (Gitarre) und Sergio Carnevale (Schlagzeug und Percussion).
