L'attuale chiesa di San Gottardo, posta sopra un piccolo colle in posizione panoramica di straordinaria bellezza, da cui si domina gran parte della sottostante vallata dell'Alto Cordevole e si possono ammirare le maestose pareti del Civetta e del Pelmo, venne costruita nel 1863 su disegno dell'architetto feltrino Giuseppe Segusini. Originariamente il progetto era stato steso per la diocesi di Treviso che però non lo considerò idoneo. Successivamente fu presentato alla popolazione di Laste che lo accettò per la nuova chiesa, purché vi fossero apportate alcune modifiche. La chiesa venne costruita poco lontano da quella vecchia, ormai da tempo abbandonata, che era stata costruita nella prima metà del XV secolo e consacrata il 5 giugno 1440. Il 29 dicembre 1626 il vescovo Giovanni Delfino concedeva alla popolazione di Laste, che la loro chiesa fosse staccata da quella di Rocca Pietore, erigendola a parrocchia.
The current Chiesa di San Gottardo is located at the top of a little hill and surrounded by amazingly beautiful views, from which it dominates a great deal of the Alto Cordevole Valley below it and from it you can gaze in wonder at the majestic rock faces of the Civetta and Pelmo peaks. Built in 1863 to a design by the architect from Feltre Giuseppe Segusini, the design was originally drawn up for the diocese of Treviso for which it was subsequently considered unsuitable. It was then presented to the people of Laste who accepted it for their new church provided some changes were made. The new church was built quite near to the older one which had been abandoned for some time and which was built in the first half of the 15th Century and consecrated on 5 June 1440. On 29 December 1626 Bishop Giovanni Delfino granted the wish of the people of Laste for their church to be separated from that of Rocca Pietore, raising its status to a parish church.
