Alpeggio a 1980 m situato tra il M. Fòp e le Cime d'Auta, a sud della Marmolada, Franzedaz rappresenta un'oasi di pace e serenità: il pendio prativo accoglie il visitatore con la discrezione dei luoghi isolati, remoti, preziosi. La località è raggiungibile seguendo l'agevole strada militare da Malga Ciapela (sent. CAI 689); tale tratta costituisce anche parte dell'Alta Via n. 2 (Bressanone - Feltre), che dall'alpeggio continua fino alla alla displuviale con la Valle del Biois: Forca Rossa 2490 m. L'insellatura, incisa su rocce rossastre, offre un vasto colpo d'occhio sui principali massicci dolomitici: Agner, Civetta, Focobon. La mulattiera d'accesso, con i suoi muretti e i tratti lastricati, rappresenta una mirabile testimonianza della maestria raggiunta in passato nell'utilizzo del materiale semplice e povero come la pietra. Analogo esempio di destrezza è visibile nelle tecniche costruttive di Cajèra e Stalogn a Malga Franzedaz; possenti tronchi squadrati a mano e abilmente sovrapposti testimoniano tutt'ora la fermezza dei montanari, capaci di adattarsi alle condizioni più ostili imposte dalla natura. Se si arriva solo fino a Franzedaz è prevista un'ora e trenta di cammino con difficoltà media.
A mountain pasture at an altitude of 1980m between Mount Fòp and the Cime d'Auta peaks, to the south of Mount Marmolada, Franzedaz presents an oasis of peace and tranquillity. Visitors to this sloping meadowland are rewarded with the enchanting environment common to all such remote, isolated places. It can be reached easily following what was formerly the military road from Malga Ciapela (CAI trail no. 689), which is also part of Alta Via no. 2 (Bressanone - Feltre). From the pasturelands, the trail continues to the watershed with Valle del Biois: Forca Rossa at 2490m. The saddleback carved out of the pink-coloured rocks, provides a stunning view over the principal Dolomite massifs: Agner, Civetta and Focobon. The mule track that grants access to this landscape, with its low walls and paved stretches bears witness to the master-craftsmanship of the past in the use of such simple, everyday materials as stone. A similar example of these artisan skills can be seen in the construction techniques of Cajèra and Stalogn at Malga Franzedaz, in which powerful tree trunks have been squared off by hand and skilfully laid on top of one another, further proof of the determination of the mountain dwellers and their ability to adapt to the most hostile natural conditions. Just reaching Franzedaz requires a hike of medium difficulty taking about an hour and a half.
