Dal 1975 il Castello del Piagnaro ospita il Museo delle Statue Stele Lunigianesi “A.C. Ambrosi”. Le Statue Stele sono enigmatiche sculture in pietra databili tra il IV e il I millennio a.C. scolpite dagli antichi abitanti della Val di Magra.
Realizzate in arenaria, le Statue Stele rappresentano figure umane maschili e femminili, accompagnate da un complesso corredo di armi e ornamenti. Gli esemplari ritrovati sono classificati in tre gruppi (A,B,C,) secondo criteri stilistici. Dal giugno 2015 è possibile visitare il nuovo allestimento del Museo, nuovi spazi, nuove acquisizioni e supporti multimediali. L’abbattimento delle barriere architettoniche e l’allestimento di un’ala dedicata ai non vedenti garantiscono a tutti la fruibilità del Museo.
Since 1975, the Castle of Piagnaro hosts the Museum of the Stele Statues, mysterious sculptures dating back to the Fourth andthe First Millennium Before Christ, representing the most precious evidence of humanpresence in the Magra Valley.
Stele statues represent male and female humanfigures, all made of sandstone with a complexset of weapons or ornaments. The found models are classified into three groups: Group A,Group B and Group C, according to stylisticmethods.
Since 2015 it is possible to visit the new Museum setting with new spaces, new acquisitions and multimedia devices. By removingthe architectural barriers and setting a wing forblind people, everyone has the possibility of visiting the Museum.
