Ex Machina

Descrizione

The Cineforum Quartier del Piave reaches its twenty-eighth edition and, with the autumn review, contemplates Artificial Intelligence. Cultivating doubt may be the right way to tackle such a significant anthropological theme, questioning this system that is capable of substituting some of our human choices with careful consideration.

The second appointment features Ex Machina on screen. This psychological sci-fi thriller, directed by Alex Garland, elegantly and intensely explores the subtle boundaries of consciousness and artificial intelligence. The story follows Caleb, a young and brilliant programmer who wins the opportunity to spend a week at the ultra-technological and isolated residence of Nathan, the narcissistic founder of the software company for which he works.

Through a claustrophobic atmosphere and intense dialogues, the film transforms into a sophisticated challenge of manipulation and power between man and machine, raising unsettling questions about the ethics of creation, the autonomy of thought, and what it truly means to be human.
