Da un divertente dottor Balanzone che sproloquia con un giovane studente di medicina del Cinquecento, si passa alla fondatrice del primo Ospedale di Padova “San Francesco Grande”, Sibilia De Cetto.
Partendo dalla carità francescana, lo spettacolo delinea la figura di Sibilla de Cetto (1350-1421) fondatrice, insieme al marito Baldo de Bonafari, nel 1414 dell’ospedale di San Francesco Grande, affidato nella gestione al Collegio dei Giuristi dell’Università di Padova.
Tra Cinque e Seicento si alternano numerosi personaggi di spicco nella storia della medicina, come Vesalio, Harvey, nel periodo in cui Galileo Galilei insegna a Padova (dal 1592 al 1610).
Si susseguono poi il medico della peste, una divertente e storica “speziala” padovana e nel Settecento Giovanni Battista Morgagni (1682 – 1771), famoso per aver posto le basi della moderna anatomia patologica... fino all’imprevedibile finale di questo viaggio nella medicina e nella scienza!

This year’s new addition is “THE HEROES OF MEDICINE: Padua’s First Hospital, from Vesalius to Morgagni”, a new exhibition dedicated to the Museum of Medicine and the ancient hospital of San Francesco Grande, created specifically for the MusMe in Padua, which aims to explain the importance that Padua’s hospital has had and continues to have in the history of world medicine, in conjunction with the University and the Botanical Gardens.
From an amusing Dr Balanzone who rambles on with a young 16th-century medical student, the narrative moves on to the founder of Padua’s first hospital, ‘San Francesco Grande’, Sibilia De Cetto.
Between the 16th and 17th centuries, numerous prominent figures in the history of medicine appear in turn, such as Vesalius and Harvey, during the period when Galileo Galilei taught in Padua (from 1592 to 1610).
Next came the plague doctor, a fascinating and historic Paduan ‘speziala’, and in the 18th century Giovanni Battista Morgagni (1682–1771), famous for laying the foundations of modern pathological anatomy... right up to the unexpected conclusion of this journey through medicine and science!

Von einem unterhaltsamen Doktor Balanzone, der mit einem jungen Medizinstudenten des 16. Jahrhunderts redet, geht es zur Gründerin des ersten Krankenhauses von Padua „San Francesco Grande“, Sibilia De Cetto.
Ausgehend von der franziskanischen Nächstenliebe skizziert die Vorstellung die Figur von Sibilla de Cetto (1350-1421), die, zusammen mit ihrem Mann Baldo de Bonafari, 1414 das Krankenhaus von San Francesco Grande gründete, das in die Verwaltung des Kollegiums der Juristen der Universität Padua übergeben wurde.
Zwischen dem 15. und 17. Jahrhundert wechseln sich zahlreiche herausragende Persönlichkeiten der Medizingeschichte ab, wie Vesalio, Harvey, in der Zeit, in der Galileo Galilei in Padua lehrt (von 1592 bis 1610).
Es folgen der Pestarzt, eine unterhaltsame und historische „Speziala“ aus Padua, und im 18. Jahrhundert Giovanni Battista Morgagni (1682 – 1771), berühmt dafür, dass er die Grundlagen der modernen pathologischen Anatomie gelegt hat... bis zum unerwarteten Finale dieser Reise durch die Medizin und die Wissenschaft!
