Lo spettacolo è la biografia della grande attrice, drammatizzata attingendo alle lettere e agli scritti. Al centro della drammaturgia si staglia soprattutto la donna, coraggiosa e infelice, personalità tra le più grandi e internazionalmente riconosciute del teatro di tutti i tempi, protagonista di una vita burrascosa e tormentata, costellata di successi e amarezze.
L’azione principale è collocata temporalmente dopo la Prima Guerra Mondiale (nel gennaio 1921), quando Eleonora Duse medita di tornare al teatro, ritrovandosi azzerati i risparmi dall’inflazione che ha colpito la Germania, uscita sconfitta e stremata dal conflitto.
Ospite in un albergo, la Duse riceve un giornalista che, avuto sentore del suo proposito di tornare in scena, le fa visita per ottenere un’intervista e successivamente per scrivere una biografia su di lei.
L’azione scenica si conclude con la rappresentazione cronologica degli ultimi eventi dopo il ritorno alle scene nel ’21, fino alla morte a Pittsburgh nel ’24, durante l’ultima tournée in America.
Lo spettacolo “La Duse (divina Eleonora)” viene prodotto da teatrOrtaet in occasione dei 100 anni dalla morte di Eleonora Duse (1924- 2024). La rappresentazione è frutto di un lavoro di ricerca e di studio che prosegue dal 2003 da parte della protagonista, Alessandro Brocadello nei panni della Duse e dell’autore Carlo Bertinelli.

The show is the biography of the great actress, dramatized by drawing on her letters and writings. The woman stands out above all at the center of the dramaturgy, courageous and unhappy, one of the greatest and most internationally recognized personalities of the theater of all time, protagonist of a stormy and tormented life, studded with successes and bitterness.
The main action is placed temporally after the First World War (in January 1921), when Eleonora Duse is thinking of returning to the theater, finding her savings wiped out by the inflation that hit Germany, defeated and exhausted by the conflict.
A guest in a hotel, Duse receives a journalist who, having heard of her intention to return to the stage, visits her to obtain an interview and subsequently to write a biography about her.
The scenic action ends with the chronological representation of the last events after her return to the scene in '21, until her death in Pittsburgh in '24, during her last tour in America.
The show “La Duse (divina Eleonora)” is produced by teatrOrtaet on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Eleonora Duse (1924- 2024). The performance is the result of research and study that has been ongoing since 2003 by the protagonist, Alessandro Brocadello in the role of Duse and the author Carlo Bertinelli.
