Lo spettacolo:
Il primo giornalista accorso sul posto, il venditore di panini che ha lucrato sulla folla accorsa a Vermicino, il presidente Pertini, i robot Mazinga e Goldrake, di cui Alfredino era appassionato, il vigile che per ore ha parlato con lui per cercare di rassicurarlo e infondergli speranza, descrivendogli le trivelle che scavavano un pozzo parallelo a quello in cui era caduto, e che lo terrorizzavano con le loro vibrazioni ed il loro rumore, come se fossero i suoi robot preferiti.
E poi Angelo Licheri, scelto per il suo corpo minuto per calarsi in quel pozzo infernale, e che rimase quaranta minuti appeso a testa in giù, a tentare inutilmente di imbracare il bambino e salvarlo. Ma il personaggio centrale è Alfredino, quel bambino perduto, come fosse l’anima dell’Italia, inghiottita dal buio, perduta per sempre, per sempre incastonata in un diamante, come il blocco di ghiaccio azotato in cui fu conservato il suo corpo, prima di recuperarlo dalla tenebra in cui è venuto a mancare a noi tutti.

The spectacle:
The first journalist to arrive on the scene, the sandwich vendor who profited from the crowds that had gathered in Vermicino, President Pertini, the robots Mazinger and Grendizer, which Alfredino was passionate about, the policeman who spoke with him for hours, trying to reassure him and instill hope, describing the drills that were digging a shaft parallel to the one he had fallen into, and which terrified him with their vibrations and noise, as if they were his favorite robots.
And then Angelo Licheri, chosen for his small frame to lower himself into that infernal pit, and who remained hanging upside down for forty minutes, trying in vain to sling the child and save him. But the central character is Alfredino, that lost child, as if he were the soul of Italy, swallowed up by the darkness, lost forever, forever set in a diamond, like the block of nitrogenous ice in which his body was preserved, before being recovered from the darkness in which he passed away for us all.

Die Vorstellung:
Der erste Journalist, der an den Ort des Geschehens kam, der Verkaufsstand mit Sandwiches, der von der Menge, die nach Vermicino strömte, profitierte, der Präsident Pertini, die Roboter Mazinga und Goldrake, für die Alfredino eine Leidenschaft hatte, der Beamte, der stundenlang mit ihm sprach, um ihn zu beruhigen und ihm Hoffnung zu geben, indem er ihm die Bohrer beschrieb, die ein paralleles Loch gruben zu dem, in das er gefallen war, und die ihn mit ihren Vibrationen und Geräuschen terrorisierten, als wären sie seine Lieblingsroboter.
Und dann Angelo Licheri, ausgewählt wegen seines zierlichen Körpers, um in dieses höllische Loch hinabzulassen, und der vierzig Minuten kopfüber hing, um vergeblich zu versuchen, das Kind zu sichern und zu retten. Doch die zentrale Figur ist Alfredino, dieses verlorene Kind, als wäre es die Seele Italiens, vom Dunkel verschlungen, für immer verloren, für immer in einem Diamanten gefangen, wie der Block aus flüssigem Stickstoff, in dem sein Körper aufbewahrt wurde, bevor er aus der Dunkelheit, in der er uns allen genommen wurde, geborgen wurde.
