Descrizione
On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Cesco Magnolato (1926-2026), a detailed exhibition project pays tribute to one of the great masters of the Second Post-War period. Through a widespread itinerary between Venice and Oderzo, the exhibition celebrates the extraordinary strength of his modern mark.
The heart of the celebrations beats in Venice, at the Academy of Fine Arts, where the master trained and taught. A selection of engravings displayed in the rooms of the library of this prestigious institution brings to light the power of black and white, culminating in 1954 with the First Prize for Engraving at the XXVII Biennale of Art. The journey continues in Oderzo with three exhibitions, in different locations, that ideally connect water and land:
Palazzo Foscolo: hosts a chronological path that ranges from the famous etchings of 1954 to the plant compositions of the new century, dominated by bright and dynamic chromatic contrasts. Cà Lozzio Incontri: an exhibition space directed by Magnolato from 2005 to 2022, explores the artist's most free-spirited creativity, where futurist influences inextricably intertwine with the human figure. Museum of the Duomo: collects for the first time in a unique and silent space his intense works dedicated to the sacred, such as the Depressions and the Stations of the Cross, in which the suffering of the last ones is embodied in the figure of Christ.
A necessary and exceptional visual diary that faithfully restores the dazzling trajectory of an artist who has been able to trace his own soul within the grooves of the plate and on the canvases.
