PROGRAMMA
In occasione dell'evento organizzato dalla Pro Loco di Mira “Carnevale della Riviera”, il Centro Studi Riviera del Brenta organizza una passeggiata nel centro storico di Mira!
L’itinerario ha inizio nel piccolo e suggestivo borgo di Mira Porte, un luogo che deve il suo nome alle antiche porte o chiuse che regolavano il passaggio delle imbarcazioni lungo il Naviglio del Brenta. La vecchia chiusa rappresentava una sosta obbligata per le imbarcazioni e, durante l’attesa, attorno ad essa prese vita un vivace brulicare di commerci e incontri. Oggi, dopo l’interramento delle chiuse nei primi decenni del ’900, al loro posto rimane una piazzetta affacciata sulle antiche insegne dei negozi di quartiere.
Da Mira Porte si prosegue lungo la riva sinistra del Naviglio Brenta, un tratto particolarmente suggestivo che costeggia una delle più belle anse naturali del fiume su cui si affacciano Villa Principe Pio e Villa Franceschi. Le ville, che si ammireranno dall'esterno, furono costruite tra Cinquecento e Settecento da alcune delle più importanti famiglie veneziane e riprendono gli stessi linguaggi architettonici dei palazzi sul Canal Grande.
Proseguendo lungo la riva si raggiungono le nuove chiuse di Mira, fino alla Chiesa di San Nicolò, un luogo di culto le cui origini risalgono all’XI-XII secolo. La chiesetta originale venne distrutta da una brentana nel Seicento, e proprio questo evento portò allo spostamento del luogo sacro nella più sicura area di Mira Porte.
La passeggiata illustrata terminerà con la visita esterna della monumentale Villa Contarini “dei Leoni”, la raffinata residenza cinquecentesca commissionata dal procuratore di San Marco Federigo Contarini, che trasformò la dimora in uno dei musei privati più ricchi del suo tempo grazie alla sua collezione di reperti d’arte e archeologici. Si parlerà dei celebri marzocchi - leoni stilizzati - che vigilano sulla scalinata e danno il nome alla villa, degli eleganti obelischi, della prestigiosa visita del Re di Francia e della storia straordinaria degli affreschi di Giambattista Tiepolo che un tempo impreziosivano gli ambienti della villa.

On the occasion of the event organized by the Pro Loco of Mira “Carnevale della Riviera”, the Riviera del Brenta Study Center organizes a walk in the historic center of Mira!
The itinerary begins in the small and picturesque village of Mira Porte, a place that gets its name from the ancient gates that regulated the passage of boats along the Naviglio del Brenta. The old lock represented a mandatory stop for vessels and, during the wait, a lively bustling of trade and encounters came to life around it. Today, after the filling in of the locks in the early decades of the 1900s, a small square remains in their place overlooking the ancient signs of neighborhood shops.
From Mira Porte, we continue along the left bank of the Naviglio Brenta, a particularly picturesque stretch that runs alongside one of the most beautiful natural bends of the river, where Villa Principe Pio and Villa Franceschi overlook. The villas, which will be admired from the outside, were built between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries by some of the most important Venetian families and reflect the same architectural styles as the palaces on the Grand Canal.
Continuing along the bank, we reach the new locks of Mira, up to the Church of San Nicolò, a place of worship whose origins date back to the 11th-12th century. The original church was destroyed by a flood in the seventeenth century, and this event led to the relocation of the sacred site to the safer area of Mira Porte.
The illustrated walk will end with an external visit to the monumental Villa Contarini “dei Leoni”, the refined sixteenth-century residence commissioned by the procurator of San Marco, Federigo Contarini, who transformed the residence into one of the richest private museums of his time thanks to his collection of art and archaeological artifacts. There will be discussions about the famous marzocchi - stylized lions - that guard the staircase and give the villa its name, the elegant obelisks, the prestigious visit of the King of France, and the extraordinary history of the frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo that once adorned the villa's interiors.

Anlässlich der von der Pro Loco di Mira organisierten Veranstaltung “Karneval der Riviera” organisiert das Centro Studi Riviera del Brenta einen Spaziergang durch das historische Zentrum von Mira!
Die Route beginnt im malerischen Dorf Mira Porte, einem Ort, der seinen Namen den alten Toren oder Schleusen verdankt, die den Durchgang der Boote entlang des Naviglio del Brenta regulierten. Die alte Schleuse stellte einen obligatorischen Halt für die Boote dar, und während der Wartezeit entstand um sie herum ein lebhaftes Treiben von Handel und Begegnungen. Heute, nach der Abdämmung der Schleusen in den ersten Jahrzehnten des 20. Jahrhunderts, bleibt an ihrer Stelle ein Platz, der auf die alten Schilder der Geschäfte im Viertel blickt.
Von Mira Porte aus geht es entlang des linken Ufers des Naviglio Brenta, einem besonders malerischen Abschnitt, der eine der schönsten natürlichen Biegungen des Flusses passiert, an der die Villa Principe Pio und die Villa Franceschi liegen. Die Villen, die von außen bewundert werden, wurden zwischen dem 16. und 18. Jahrhundert von einigen der bedeutendsten venezianischen Familien erbaut und spiegeln die gleichen architektonischen Stile wie die Paläste am Canal Grande wider.
Weiter entlang des Ufers gelangt man zu den neuen Schleusen von Mira, bis zur Kirche San Nicolò, einem Kultort, dessen Ursprünge ins 11. und 12. Jahrhundert zurückreichen. Die ursprüngliche Kirche wurde im 17. Jahrhundert durch eine Brentana zerstört, und genau dieses Ereignis führte zur Verlegung des heiligen Ortes in das sicherere Gebiet von Mira Porte.
Der beschriebene Spaziergang endet mit einem Außenbesuch der monumentalen Villa Contarini “dei Leoni”, der eleganten Residenz aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, die vom Doge von San Marco Federigo Contarini in Auftrag gegeben wurde, der das Anwesen aufgrund seiner Sammlung von Kunst- und Archäologie-Exponaten in eines der reichsten Privatmuseen seiner Zeit verwandelte. Es wird über die berühmten Marzocchi - stilisierten Löwen - gesprochen, die die Treppe bewachen und der Villa ihren Namen geben, über die eleganten Obelisken, den prestigeträchtigen Besuch des Königs von Frankreich und die außergewöhnliche Geschichte der Fresken von Giambattista Tiepolo, die einst die Räume der Villa schmückten.
