The City of Lonigo, through the Department of Culture, presents the event "Strong Words – Veneto: I love and I hate", a series of three meetings with authors to explore stories and themes that provoke emotions and reflections.

On  November 4, 2026 at 8:45 p.m. at the Bar Caffè Borsa, the author Andrea Rilievo will present her book: "This Snow".

In January 1985, while Veneto is overwhelmed by the "snowfall of the century," the three step-siblings Marcella, Antonio, and Tuco De Santo try to survive by alternating honest work and illegal ventures. The exceptional cold snap offers them two unexpected opportunities: the theft of mollusks in the Scardovari lagoon, under the frozen surface, and the subsequent disappearance of a thoroughbred kept in a villa in the Colli Berici.

Leading the gang is Marcella, impulsive and charismatic, determined to win the attention of Albert Spaggiari, the famous robber from Nice whom she suspects to be her father. But behind the criminal enterprises lie unresolved family secrets, mainly connected to Rita, Marcella’s mother, a former prostitute turned respected merchant, and the identity of the girl’s father.

In a Veneto suspended between snow and silence, while a Siberian tiger that escaped from a circus roams the Colli Berici, the protagonists' lives intertwine in an unpredictable story, where the past is ready to resurface and nothing seems destined to remain as it was.

Andrea Rilievo lives in Valdagno, in the Alto Vicentino, a region with an industrial past nestled at the foot of the Piccole Dolomiti. She is the president of the Social Cooperative Studio Progetto, where she develops socio-health services aimed at people in vulnerable conditions. In 2019, she published with Attilio Fraccaro Editore Every Future Has Already Passed, a historical novel that reconstructs the air disaster that occurred in Verona on December 13, 1995.

Dezember 1995 in Verona ereignete.
