Edificata verso la metà del Cinquecento, l’antica “Madonna della Sabionara” nasce come luogo di culto popolare. Nel 1638, per volontà di fra Vincenzo Mocenigo, nei pressi della chiesa fu fondato un monastero di frati minori francescani, che venne soppresso nel 1769.
Sopra il settecentesco altare maggiore è collocata la statua Madonna col Bambino, dello scultore locale Giovanni Costantini (1914). Ai suoi lati si possono
ammirare due affreschi di soggetto mariano eseguiti dal pittore friulano Marco Antonini (primo Novecento).
Di pregevole fattura è la pala raffigurante la Vergine attribuita all’udinese Eugenio Pini (sec. XVIII). Notevole l’organo ottocentesco del maestro friulano Valentino Zanin.
La nicchia sopra il portale ospita la Vergine in trono col Bambino del latisanese Francesco Ellero (1930).
Built in the mid-sixteenth century, the ancient "Madonna della Sabionara" was established as a place of popular worship. In 1638, at the behest of Friar Vincenzo Mocenigo, a monastery for the Franciscan Friars Minor was founded near the church, which was then closed in 1769.
Above the eighteenth-century main altar is the statue of the Madonna and Child by local sculptor Giovanni Costantini (1914). At its sides you can admire two frescoes depicting the Virgin Mary by the Friulian painter Marco Antonini (early 1900s).
Exquisite workmanship can be found in the altar portraying the Virgin attributed to Eugenio Pini from Udine (18th century). The nineteenth-century organ by the Friulian master Valentino Zanin is also worthy of note.
The niche above the portal houses the Enthroned Virgin with Child by Francesco Ellero from Latisana (1930).
Die antike „Madonna della Sabionara“ wurde gegen Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts als Ort der Volksanbetung errichtet. 1638 wurde in der Nähe der Kirche auf Veranlassung von Vincenzo Mocenigo ein Kloster der Franziskaner-Minoriten gegründet, das 1769 aufgehoben wurde.
Über dem Hochaltar aus dem achtzehnten Jahrhundert befindet sich eine Statue der Madonna mit Kind des lokalen Bildhauers Giovanni Costantini (1914). Seitlich kann man zwei Fresken mit marianischem Thema bewundern, die von dem Friaulischen Maler Marco Antonini (Anfang des 20. Jhd.) stammen.
Wertvoll verarbeitet ist das Altarbild mit der Darstellung der Jungfrau, das Eugenio Pini aus Udine (17. Jhd.) zugeschrieben wird. Bemerkenswert ist die Orgel aus dem 19. Jahrhundert des Friaulischen Meisters Valentino Zanin.
In der Nische über dem Portal befindet sich die Jungfrau auf dem Thron mit Kind des aus Latisana stammenden Francesco Ellero (1930).
