Monte Valbella e Col del Rosso

Questi monti a sud est del paese di Gallio, oltre ad essere facilmente raggiungibili anche dagli escursionisti meno esperti, offrono la serenità tipica dei luoghi d’alpeggio, lo scenario del versante sud-orientale dell’Altopiano e luoghi di interesse storico, in quanto su queste montagne si combattè, alla fine del Primo Conflitto Mondiale, le battaglie che bloccarono definitivamente gli ultimi sforzi dell’esercito austrungarico sull’Altopiano.
L’ambiente alterna boschi d’abeti e di faggi ed il pascolo, che mostra ancora le buche delle granate (gli shrapnell austriaci), nonostante gli sforzi dei malgari per rendere il terreno il più adatto possibile all’attività di alpeggio.
Per compiere quest’escursione, occorre, uscire da Gallio in direzione Bassano. Giunti a contrada Bertigo, svoltare a sinistra e percorrere tutto il tratto asfaltato, oltrepassando le Sciovie di Valbella, per giungere a contrada Laben.
Qui si deve imboccare il sentiero a destra, che costeggia Malga Ronco Carbon e punta verso la Cima di Monte Valbella (m. 1314).
Sulla cima del monte possiamo trovare un area sacra, con cippo, altare e croce a ricordo dei bersaglieri caduti su queste montagne.
Per proseguire la passeggiata occorre scendere dal versante opposto e raggiungere una carrareccia nel fondovalle. Qui si deve imboccare la strada che conduce a Casara di Melago. Prima di giungere alla malga, da un tornante si può percorrere un tratto del famoso sentiero Tilman (sentiero CAI n.805) fino a raggiungere la cima del Col del Rosso, dove si trova un cippo marmoreo.
Il percorso prosegue verso Località Melaghetto dove è issato il Monumento al Capitano della Brigata Sassari Eugenio Niccolai (Medaglia d''oro al Valor Militare) per rientrare in località Laben passando per Malga Stenfle.

Here you have to take the road leading to Casara di Melago. Before reaching the malga, you can walk down a stretch of the famous Tilman trail (CAI n. 805) until you reach the top of Col del Rosso where there is a marble memorial column.The route continues towards Melaghetto Town where you can see the Monument to the Captain of Brigade Sassari Eugenio Niccolai (Gold Medal at Military Valor) before returning to Laben Town via Malga Stenfle.
