La rassegna Mondovisioni: i documentari di “Internazionale” racconta la complessità del nostro tempo attraverso storie esemplari e senza filtri, che ci coinvolgono e ci riguardano.
LA TRAMA
Nel 2021, l’area di confine tra Polonia e Bielorussia è diventata una zona vietata, larga tre chilometri, dove i rifugiati si sono trovati brutalmente intrappolati. Erano diventati la posta in gioco di uno scontro politico: la Bielorussia li aveva ingannati promettendo un libero passaggio verso l’UE, in Polonia sono stati respinti e costretti a tornare oltre il confine. Una volta rientrati in Bielorussia però, venivano rimandati verso la Polonia: un’orribile situazione di stallo in un territorio inospitale e pericoloso. Maciek vive con la sua famiglia sul lato polacco del confine, e ha accolto in casa un rifugiato siriano esausto, il ventisettenne Alhyder. Dopo aver recuperato le forze, Alhyder si interroga sul da farsi. Dove andare senza mettere in pericolo se stesso o Maciek? La tensione è palpabile in questo documentario sensibile e discreto, che senza sensazionalismi ritrae le emozioni sui volti dei membri della famiglia polacca e del loro ospite. La situazione è disastrosa e una soluzione sembra impossibile. Eppure, allo stesso tempo, il film è permeato dal calore della solidarietà e del contatto umano.
LA REGISTA
Zuzanna Solakiewicz è una scrittrice e regista, laureata in Lettere all’Università di Varsavia. Tra il 2005 e il 2009 ha vissuto in Israele, dove ha studiato regia cinematografica alla Sam Spiegel Film & TV School di Gerusalemme, prima di completare uno stage alla Scuola di cinema di Lodz. Il suo documentario 15 Corners Of The World ha vinto la Settimana della Critica al festival di Locarno 2014, il premio per il miglior documentario al Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival e altri riconoscimenti. The Soil del 2021 è stato presentato al Krakow Film Festival, DocsMX di Città del Messico e RAI Film Festival di Londra.
Zvika Portnoy si è laureato in fotografia presso l’Accademia di Arte e Design BEZALEL di Gerusalemme nel 2007, e in Direzione della Fotografia e Regia alla Sam Spiegel Film & TV School di Gerusalemme nel 2011. È membro della Israeli Association of Photographers, autore di diverse mostre fotografiche e di videoarte, e direttore della fotografia di numerosi cortometraggi, lungometraggi e documentari, tra cui l’acclamato 15 Corners Of The World diretto da Zuzanna Solakiewicz.. Dal 2011 vive e lavora in Polonia.

THE PLOT
In 2021, the border area between Poland and Belarus became a forbidden zone, three kilometers wide, where refugees found themselves brutally trapped. They had become the stakes in a political clash: Belarus had deceived them by promising safe passage to the EU, but in Poland they were turned away and forced to return beyond the border. Once back in Belarus, however, they were sent back towards Poland: a horrific stalemate in a hostile and dangerous territory. Maciek lives with his family on the Polish side of the border and welcomed an exhausted Syrian refugee, twenty-seven-year-old Alhyder, into his home. After regaining his strength, Alhyder contemplates his next steps. Where to go without endangering himself or Maciek? The tension is palpable in this sensitive and discreet documentary, which portrays the emotions on the faces of the Polish family members and their guest without sensationalism. The situation is disastrous, and a solution seems impossible. Yet, at the same time, the film is permeated with the warmth of solidarity and human contact.
THE DIRECTOR
Zuzanna Solakiewicz is a writer and director, graduated in Humanities from the University of Warsaw. Between 2005 and 2009, she lived in Israel, where she studied film directing at the Sam Spiegel Film & TV School in Jerusalem, before completing an internship at the Łódź Film School. Her documentary 15 Corners Of The World won the Critics' Week at the 2014 Locarno Festival, the award for Best Documentary at the Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, and other accolades. The Soil from 2021 was presented at the Krakow Film Festival, DocsMX in Mexico City, and the RAI Film Festival in London.
Zvika Portnoy graduated in photography from the BEZALEL Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem in 2007, and in Cinematography and Directing from the Sam Spiegel Film & TV School in Jerusalem in 2011. He is a member of the Israeli Association of Photographers, the author of several photographic exhibitions and video art, and a cinematographer on numerous short films, feature films, and documentaries, including the acclaimed 15 Corners Of The World directed by Zuzanna Solakiewicz. Since 2011, he has been living and working in Poland.

DIE HANDLUNG
Im Jahr 2021 wurde das Grenzgebiet zwischen Polen und Weißrussland zu einer drei Kilometer breiten Sperrzone, in der Flüchtlinge brutal gefangen waren. Sie wurden zum Spielball eines politischen Konflikts: Weißrussland hatte sie getäuscht und einen freien Durchgang in die EU versprochen, in Polen wurden sie abgewiesen und gezwungen, über die Grenze zurückzukehren. Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach Weißrussland wurden sie jedoch erneut in Richtung Polen geschickt: eine schreckliche Pattsituation in einem unwirtlichen und gefährlichen Gebiet. Maciek lebt mit seiner Familie auf der polnischen Seite der Grenze und hat einen erschöpften syrischen Flüchtling, den siebenundzwanzigjährigen Alhyder, bei sich aufgenommen. Nachdem Alhyder seine Kräfte wiederhergestellt hat, fragt er sich, was er tun soll. Wohin gehen, ohne sich oder Maciek in Gefahr zu bringen? Die Spannung ist in diesem sensiblen und diskreten Dokumentarfilm spürbar, der ohne Sensationsgier die Emotionen auf den Gesichtern der polnischen Familienmitglieder und ihres Gastes einfängt. Die Situation ist katastrophal und eine Lösung scheint unmöglich. Doch gleichzeitig ist der Film durchdrungen von der Wärme der Solidarität und menschlichen Nähe.
DIE REGISSEURIN
Zuzanna Solakiewicz ist eine Schriftstellerin und Regisseurin, die an der Universität Warschau Literatur studiert hat. Von 2005 bis 2009 lebte sie in Israel, wo sie Regie an der Sam Spiegel Film & TV School in Jerusalem studierte, bevor sie ein Praktikum an der Filmhochschule Lodz absolvierte. Ihr Dokumentarfilm 15 Corners Of The World gewann die Kritikerwoche beim Festival von Locarno 2014, den Preis für den besten Dokumentarfilm beim Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival und weitere Auszeichnungen. The Soil von 2021 wurde beim Krakow Film Festival, DocsMX in Mexiko-Stadt und beim RAI Film Festival in London präsentiert.
Zvika Portnoy hat 2007 Fotografie an der Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem studiert und 2011 Regie und Kameraführung an der Sam Spiegel Film & TV School in Jerusalem abgeschlossen. Er ist Mitglied der Israeli Association of Photographers, Autor mehrerer Fotoausstellungen und Video-Kunstwerke, sowie Kameramann zahlreicher Kurzfilme, Featurefilme und Dokumentarfilme, darunter der gefeierte 15 Corners Of The World unter der Regie von Zuzanna Solakiewicz. Seit 2011 lebt und arbeitet er in Polen.
