Licia Gallo Bona presenta “Migranti.

Licia Gallo Bona presents “Migrants. The children of Teodora and Santo".

A story set in the nineteenth century that speaks of departures, memories, and hopes, which, through the word "migrants," also ends up questioning our present.

The meeting will be an opportunity to learn about a story tied to the Belluno territory and, through the events of a family from the nineteenth century, rediscover a phenomenon that has always been part of the local history of our mountain lands: migration.

The book starts from the previous research conducted by the author dedicated to Teodora Zannon, a midwife who lived in the nineteenth century and protagonist of the book Teodora. Story of a midwife from the 1800s. Continuing her meticulous work of reconstructing the Bona family, Dora of Fullin di Tambre, Licia Gallo Bona this time dedicates her attention to the children of Teodora and Santo, forced to live an intense experience of travel and profound changes that take them far from their home environment.

Particularly evocative is the journey made to Venice at a young age linked to the Piave, which in the past represented an important and strategic means of communication and transport, thus returning to the reader the image of an era in which movements appeared laborious, risky, and profoundly different from those we are accustomed to in modern society.

Migrants. The children of Teodora and Santo is a book that speaks of the past while also addressing numerous points for reflection on the present. The story of those who leave, the complex relationship with their homeland, the desire to build a different life, the uncertainty of the future, and the necessity to preserve memory are themes that transcend time and continue to question us.

The meeting will be an opportunity to rediscover a page of our history through the events of a family, recalling that our communities have also experienced multiple departures, journeys, and separations, and the discovery of new destinations, preserving an extraordinary ability, after many years, to speak to the present and to new generations.
