E’ sicuramente una della più dure d’Europa!
Ma come è nata la Gran Fondo? La storia è quella di un gruppo di amici appassionati di bicicletta che si trovano spesso insieme per scalare le vicine Dolomiti divertendosi in compagnia. Sono una decina o poco più nel lontano 1988 che decidono di fondare una nuova società ciclistica.
Negli anni avvenire il comitato decide di stringere una nuova alleanza forte con il territorio e nasce il partenariato con Sportful, l’azienda leader mondiale dell’abbigliamento ciclistico, per questo la manifestazione modifica il nome in Gran Fondo Sportful.
Nel 2009 le Dolomiti vengono riconosciute patrimonio dell’umanità dall’Unesco e il comitato organizzatore decide di rendere loro onore modificando il nome in Sportful Dolomiti Race visto che il 90% del percorso attraversa il sito Unesco.
Ad attendere i granfondisti il 21 giugno ci sarà il tradizionale Gran Fondo di 200km e quasi 5.000mt di dislivello totale con un nuovo percorso che toccherà il cuore delle Dolomiti Bellunesi con scenari mozzafiato come il Monte Pelmo che nel Bellunese è chiamata da tutti “el caregon del Padreterno”, il “trono di Dio” per la sua conformazione caratteristica: due monoliti con un avvallamento centrale che gli danno proprio un aspetto da gigantesco trono..
Chi sceglierà il percorso Medio Fondo affronterà 120 km con 2.450mt di dislivello.
Per tutti l'arrivo sarà nella splendida cornice del centro storico di Feltre.

But how did the Gran Fondo come about? The story is of a group of friends passionate about cycling who often get together to climb the nearby Dolomites while having fun in each other's company. There are about ten or so of them back in 1988 who decide to found a new cycling club.
In the following years, the committee decides to forge a strong new alliance with the territory and the partnership with Sportful is born, the world leader in cycling apparel, leading to the event being renamed Gran Fondo Sportful.
In 2009, the Dolomites were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the organizing committee decided to pay tribute by changing the name to Sportful Dolomiti Race since 90% of the route passes through the UNESCO site.
Awaiting the Gran Fondo participants on June 21st will be the traditional Gran Fondo of 200km and almost 5,000m of total elevation gain with a new route that will touch the heart of the Belluno Dolomites with breathtaking scenery like Mount Pelmo, which is referred to as “el caregon del Padreterno,” the “throne of God” for its characteristic shape: two monoliths with a central depression that give it the appearance of a gigantic throne..
Those who choose the Medio Fondo route will face 120 km with 2,450m of elevation gain.
For everyone, the finish will be in the beautiful setting of the historic center of Feltre.

Wie ist die Gran Fondo entstanden? Die Geschichte handelt von einer Gruppe von Freunden, die leidenschaftlich gerne Fahrrad fahren und sich oft zusammenfinden, um die nahegelegenen Dolomiten zu erklimmen und gemeinsam Spaß zu haben. Es sind etwa zehn oder etwas mehr, die 1988 entscheiden, einen neuen Radsportverein zu gründen.
Im Laufe der Jahre beschließt das Komitee, eine neue starke Allianz mit dem Territorium einzugehen, und es entsteht die Partnerschaft mit Sportful, dem weltweit führenden Unternehmen für Fahrradausrüstung, weshalb die Veranstaltung ihren Namen in Gran Fondo Sportful ändert.
