Descrizione

A journey into the mind and pencil of Giuseppe Segusini, between completed architectures and visions remained on paper.

The city of Feltre pays tribute to the artist 150 years after his death.

Architect, designer, artist, and tireless planner, Giuseppe Segusini (Feltre, 1801 - Belluno, 1876) represents one of the most original figures of 19th century Veneto.

Educated at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Segusini was able to interpret diverse languages with freedom, from Neoclassicism to Neogothic, and even to Egyptian and Oriental suggestions. His pencil shaped churches, theaters, palaces, monuments, altars, and furnishings, as well as landscapes and views of romantic taste.

The exhibit tells this extraordinary journey through over 100 works, including drawings, architectural projects, paintings, and sculptures, many of which are unpublished or rarely exhibited.

Alongside the major completed projects – from the Episcopal seminary of Feltre to the Theater of Belluno, from the city palaces to sacred buildings – there is also room for numerous ideas that remained on paper: imagined architectures, design variants, monuments, fountains, and theatrical sets.

An opportunity to rediscover the eclectic personality of a protagonist of 19th century architecture and, through his drawings and his relationships with artists like Giovanni De Min, Marco Casagrande, and Valentino Panciera Besarel, to enter the vibrant cultural world of Veneto in the 19th century.

Jahrhunderts einzutauchen.
