Il libro di Carlo Nordio rappresenta il capitolo conclusivo di un lungo percorso iniziato quasi trent’anni fa con la pubblicazione, nel 1997, del volume Giustizia.
Ripartendo dalle fragilità strutturali che già allora segnavano il nostro sistema giudiziario, Nordio ricostruisce le incoerenze che, a suo giudizio, hanno accompagnato l’introduzione del codice Vassalli e la sua difficile convivenza con una Costituzione modellata su un impianto del tutto diverso. Ne emerge un quadro sorprendente, in cui contraddizioni normative, carriere unite e logiche correntizie hanno progressivamente minato la fiducia dei cittadini nella terzietà del giudice e nell’imparzialità dell’accusa.
Carlo Nordio dal 22 ottobre 2022 è Ministro della Giustizia. È stato procuratore aggiunto di Venezia fino al 2017. Negli anni Novanta ha condotto le indagini sui reati di Tangentopoli, sulla Colonna Veneta delle BR, l’inchiesta sul MOSE; è stato consulente della commissione parlamentare per il terrorismo e presidente della commissione ministeriale per la riforma del codice penale. Separation of powers, redefinition of the self-governance of the judiciary, creation of a High Disciplinary Court. What is at stake in the constitutional reform? Carlo Nordio's book represents the concluding chapter of a long journey that began almost thirty years ago with the publication, in 1997, of the volume Justice.
Starting from the structural weaknesses that already marked our judicial system at that time, Nordio reconstructs the inconsistencies that, in his opinion, have accompanied the introduction of the Vassalli code and its difficult coexistence with a Constitution modeled on a completely different structure. A surprising picture emerges, in which normative contradictions, unified careers, and factional logics have progressively undermined citizens' trust in the impartiality of the judge and the neutrality of the prosecution.
Carlo Nordio has been the Minister of Justice since October 22, 2022. He was Deputy Prosecutor of Venice until 2017. In the 1990s, he conducted investigations into the crimes of Tangentopoli, the Venetian Column of the BR, and the MOSE inquiry; he was a consultant to the parliamentary commission on terrorism and president of the ministerial commission for the reform of the penal code. Among his books are Justice (1997), Emergency Justice (1999), The Season of Indulgence and Its Poisoned Fruits (2019), Justice. Last Act (2022), and, with Giuliano Pisapia, Awaiting Justice (2010).

Das Buch von Carlo Nordio stellt das abschließende Kapitel eines langen Weges dar, der vor fast dreißig Jahren mit der Veröffentlichung des Buches „Gerechtigkeit“ im Jahr 1997 begann.
Ausgehend von den strukturellen Schwächen, die bereits damals unser Justizsystem prägten, rekonstruiert Nordio die Inkohärenzen, die seiner Meinung nach die Einführung des Vassalli-Codes und dessen schwierige Koexistenz mit einer Verfassung begleitet haben, die auf einem völlig anderen System basiert. Dabei entsteht ein verblüffendes Bild, in dem normative Widersprüche, vereinheitlichte Karrieren und Strömungslogiken das Vertrauen der Bürger in die Unabhängigkeit des Richters und die Unparteilichkeit der Anklage schrittweise untergraben haben.
Carlo Nordio ist seit dem 22. Oktober 2022 Minister der Justiz. Bis 2017 war er Staatsanwalt in Venedig. In den neunziger Jahren leitete er die Ermittlungen zu den Straftaten von Tangentopoli, zur Venezianischen Säule der BR sowie die Untersuchung zum MOSE; er war Berater des parlamentarischen Komitees für Terrorismus und Vorsitzender des Ministerkomitees zur Reform des Strafgesetzbuchs. Zu seinen Büchern gehören „Gerechtigkeit“ (1997), Notstand Gerechtigkeit (1999), Die Saison der Nachsicht und ihre vergifteten Früchte (2019), Gerechtigkeit. Letzter Akt (2022) und, mit Giuliano Pisapia, In Erwartung der Gerechtigkeit (2010).
