La valle d’Ampezzo custodisce un secolo di storie di ghiaccio: piste mitiche, imprese locali, meccanici geniali, e soprattutto atleti che hanno sfidato la velocità in un dialogo costante tra ingegno e rischio. Insieme, facciamo un viaggio nel cuore di questa tradizione, attraverso le immagini rare dell’Archivio Storico Fondazione Dompé e quelle del Bob Club Cortina: dalle fotografie dei Mondiali del 1950 ai bozzetti modernisti dei programmi delle Olimpiadi 1956, dalle tessere del Bob Club a lettere di piloti e fabbri, fino alle immagini sublimi delle pattinatrici in allenamento allo Stadio del Ghiaccio, e gli scorci della Cortina olimpica del ’56 — gli hockeisti davanti a Palazzo delle Poste, il bobbista Franco Dompé, i fuochi della cerimonia di chiusura.
Insieme ai protagonisti del territorio Gianfranco Rezzadore, Diego Menardi e la medaglia d’oro Roberto Zandonella riviviamo gli anni dei bolidi bianco-azzurri, delle ditte artigiane ampezzane (Pompanin, Dandrea, Colli & Costantini) che costruivano slitte richieste ovunque; dei frenatori che fecero epoca, come Sergio Siorpaes, compagno di Eugenio Monti e Renzo Alverà.
Tra corrispondenze d’epoca (“Il nostro bolide è arrivato…!”) e la poesia del ghiaccio e del freddo, riaffiora un mondo in cui la neve era anche officina, laboratorio, sogno. In un dialogo con gli atleti di oggi, gli olimpionici Patrick Baumgartner e Giada Andreutti e i giovanissimi Carolina Levorato ed Enrico Gandini, per raccontare l’attesa del 2026, con la nuova pista “Eugenio Monti”.
Un pomeriggio di memorie e scoperte, tra fotografie, storie e voci di una Cortina che dal passato guarda al futuro, con la stessa passione che rese leggenda il suo bob.

The Ampezzo Valley holds a century of ice stories: legendary tracks, local enterprises, brilliant mechanics, and above all, athletes who challenged speed in a constant dialogue between ingenuity and risk. Together, we embark on a journey into the heart of this tradition, through rare images from the Historical Archive of the Dompé Foundation and those of the Bob Club Cortina: from photographs of the World Championships in 1950 to the modernist sketches of the 1956 Olympic programs, from the Bob Club membership cards to letters from pilots and blacksmiths, up to the sublime images of figure skaters training at the Ice Stadium, and glimpses of the Olympic Cortina of '56 — the hockey players in front of the Post Office Palace, the bobsledder Franco Dompé, the fireworks from the closing ceremony.
Together with the local figures Gianfranco Rezzadore, Diego Menardi, and gold medalist Roberto Zandonella, we relive the years of the white-blue racing cars, the artisan companies from Ampezzo (Pompanin, Dandrea, Colli & Costantini) that built sleds requested everywhere; of the brakemen who made history, like Sergio Siorpaes, partner of Eugenio Monti and Renzo Alverà.
Among vintage correspondences (“Our racing car has arrived…!”) and the poetry of ice and cold, a world emerges where snow was also a workshop, laboratory, dream. In a dialogue with today’s athletes, Olympians Patrick Baumgartner and Giada Andreutti and the very young Carolina Levorato and Enrico Gandini, to narrate the anticipation for 2026, with the new track “Eugenio Monti.”
An afternoon of memories and discoveries, between photographs, stories, and voices of a Cortina that looks to the future from the past, with the same passion that made its bobsled legendary.

Das Ampezzotal bewahrt ein Jahrhundert Geschichten aus Eis: legendäre Pisten, lokale Unternehmen, geniale Techniker und vor allem Athleten, die die Geschwindigkeit herausforderten in einem ständigen Dialog zwischen Einfallsreichtum und Risiko. Gemeinsam machen wir eine Reise ins Herz dieser Tradition, durch die seltenen Bilder des Historischen Archivs der Fondazione Dompé und die des Bob Clubs Cortina: von den Fotografien der Weltmeisterschaften 1950 bis zu den modernistischen Skizzen der Olympiaprogramme 1956, von den Mitgliedskarten des Bob Clubs bis zu den Briefen von Fahrern und Schmieden, bis zu den sublimen Bildern der Eiskunstläuferinnen im Training im Eispalast und den Blicken auf die olympische Cortina von ’56 — die Hockeyspieler vor dem Palazzo delle Poste, der Bobfahrer Franco Dompé, die Feuer der Abschlusszeremonie.
Zusammen mit den Protagonisten des Gebiets Gianfranco Rezzadore, Diego Menardi und der Goldmedaille Roberto Zandonella erleben wir die Jahre der weiß-blauen Boliden, der Handwerksbetriebe aus Ampezzo (Pompanin, Dandrea, Colli & Costantini), die überall verlangte Schlitten bauten; der Bremsfahrer, die Geschichte schrieben, wie Sergio Siorpaes, Weggefährte von Eugenio Monti und Renzo Alverà.
Zwischen zeitgenössischen Korrespondenzen („Unser Bolide ist angekommen…!“) und der Poesie des Eises und der Kälte taucht eine Welt auf, in der der Schnee auch Werkstatt, Labor und Traum war. In einem Dialog mit den heutigen Athleten, den Olympioniken Patrick Baumgartner und Giada Andreutti sowie den jungen Carolina Levorato und Enrico Gandini, um auf die Erwartungen für 2026 mit der neuen Strecke „Eugenio Monti“ hinzuweisen.
Ein Nachmittag der Erinnerungen und Entdeckungen, zwischen Fotografien, Geschichten und Stimmen eines Cortina, das von der Vergangenheit in die Zukunft blickt, mit der gleichen Leidenschaft, die ihren Bob zur Legende machte.
