A vent'anni dalla sua scomparsa, Cortina d'Ampezzo rende omaggio a Giovanni Cenacchi, alpinista, scrittore, giornalista e straordinario interprete della cultura delle terre alte. Nato a Cortina e profondamente legato alle sue montagne, Cenacchi ha raccontato le Dolomiti con uno sguardo libero da ogni retorica: non come teatro di imprese, ma come luogo di memoria, bellezza e verità.
L'evento ripercorre il suo straordinario percorso umano e intellettuale attraverso la proiezione del pluripremiato documentario I cavalieri delle vertigini, vincitore della Genziana d'Oro CAI al Trento Film Festival nel 2000.
Un'opera intensa che rievoca la storica conquista della Direttissima alla parete Nord della Cima Ovest di Lavaredo, impreziosita dalla partecipazione di grandi protagonisti degli Scoiattoli di Cortina, tra cui Mario Lacedelli, Massimo Da Pozzo e Nadia Dimai, custodi autentici dello spirito dell'alpinismo ampezzano.
Sarà anche l'occasione per ricordare il prezioso contributo di Cenacchi alla memoria delle Dolomiti attraverso il volume Gli Scoiattoli di Cortina, opera fondamentale dedicata alla storia del celebre sodalizio alpinistico.
Un incontro dedicato non solo a un autore, ma a una visione della montagna capace di parlare ancora oggi con rara profondità.

Twenty years after his passing, Cortina d'Ampezzo pays tribute to Giovanni Cenacchi, mountaineer, writer, journalist, and extraordinary interpreter of the highland culture. Born in Cortina and deeply connected to its mountains, Cenacchi has narrated the Dolomites with a gaze free from any rhetoric: not as a stage for exploits, but as a place of memory, beauty, and truth.
The event retraces his extraordinary human and intellectual journey through the screening of the award-winning documentary The Knights of Vertigo, winner of the Genziana d'Oro CAI at the Trento Film Festival in 2000.
An intense work that recalls the historic conquest of the Direct Route on the North Face of the Cima Ovest di Lavaredo, enriched by the participation of key figures from the Scoiattoli di Cortina, including Mario Lacedelli, Massimo Da Pozzo, and Nadia Dimai, authentic guardians of the spirit of Ampezzan mountaineering.
It will also be an occasion to remember Cenacchi's valuable contribution to the memory of the Dolomites through the volume The Squirrels of Cortina, a fundamental work dedicated to the history of the famous mountaineering association.
An encounter dedicated not only to an author, but to a vision of the mountain capable of speaking even today with rare depth.

Vor zwanzig Jahren nach seinem Verschwinden ehrt Cortina d'Ampezzo Giovanni Cenacchi, Alpinist, Schriftsteller, Journalist und außergewöhnlicher Interpret der Kultur der Hochgebirgen. Geboren in Cortina und tief verwurzelt mit seinen Bergen, hat Cenacchi die Dolomiten mit einem freien Blick außerhalb jeder Rhetorik erzählt: nicht als Theater von Unternehmungen, sondern als Ort der Erinnerung, Schönheit und Wahrheit.
Die Veranstaltung beleuchtet seinen außergewöhnlichen menschlichen und intellektuellen Werdegang durch die Vorführung des preisgekrönten Dokumentarfilms Die Ritter der Schwindel, Gewinner der Genziana d'Oro CAI beim Trento Film Festival im Jahr 2000.
Ein intensives Werk, das die historische Eroberung der Direttissima an der Nordwand der Cima Ovest di Lavaredo wieder aufruft, bereichert durch die Teilnahme großer Protagonisten der Scoiattoli di Cortina, darunter Mario Lacedelli, Massimo Da Pozzo und Nadia Dimai, authentische Hüter des Geistes des Ampezzaner Alpinismus.
Es wird auch eine Gelegenheit sein, den wertvollen Beitrag von Cenacchi zur Erinnerung an die Dolomiten durch den Band Die Scoiattoli di Cortina, ein fundamentales Werk, das der Geschichte der berühmten alpinistischen Gemeinschaft gewidmet ist, zu würdigen.
Ein Treffen, das nicht nur einem Autor gewidmet ist, sondern einer Sichtweise auf die Berge, die auch heute noch mit seltener Tiefe spricht.
