Paolo Ganz (aka Mr. Catfish Blues; Little Paul): un uomo e la sua armonica.
Musicista, cantante, autore e compositore, è considerato uno dei pionieri dell’armonica blues in Italia.
Primo tra tutti ha scritto e pubblicato manuali didattici per il suo strumento e per chitarra blues.
Ha tenuto corsi e stage nelle principali città italiane, ha prodotto registrazioni, trascrizioni così come lezioni e tenuto a battesimo due generazioni di armonicisti italiani.
Titolare di una rubrica di armonica in una delle principali testate musicali italiane per oltre quindici anni, a partire dagli anni ‘80 è salito su centinaia di palchi in Italia, Germania, Irlanda, Spagna, Olanda, Francia, Svizzera e Austria, collaborato dal vivo e soprattutto in studio con artisti di ogni genere, spaziando dalla New Age di Riccardo Zappa all’elettronica di Lyra Pramuk, sotto la direzione di arrangiatori del calibro di Francesco Magnelli (Litfiba, CCCP, CSI, Ginevra di Marco); Marco Falagiani (M. Masini, U.Tozzi, G. Bigazzi) e Claudio Mandonico (Orchestra Città di Brescia).
Ha aperto concerti per artisti come i leggendari Frank Frost e James Cotton, Johnny Mars, Billy Branch, John Hammond, Steve Backer e Mike Cooper e ha diviso il palco con Zoot Money (Animals, Eric Burton, Mick Taylor), Dick Heckstall-Smith (Colosseum, The Graham Bond Organisation, John Mayall), Herbie Goins e Ronnie Jones (Alexis Korner), Dave Sumner (The Primitives); con il mitico Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airman nonché con il poeta afro-americano George Elliott Clarke.
Vanta partecipazioni a colonne sonore prodotte da De Laurentis, Piccioli, Cecchi Gori e Istituto Luce sotto la direzione di registi come il compianto Francesco Nuti.
Paolo Ganz ha suonato in ben tre colonne sonore dell’attore e regista fiorentino, Jean-Pierre Duriez, Ferzan Özpetek.
I suoi brani sono stati pubblicati da diverse edizioni discografiche e testate nazionali.
Ha inciso vinili e CD per svariate etichette (tra cui Sony e Storie di Note) e, oltre ai manuali didattici, ha scritto una quindicina di libri, tra cui alcuni dedicati all’armonica, tra i quali ricordiamo Armonicomio – elogio dell’Armonica Blues e L’estate rubata di Théo Nicholao.
Si esibisce con la sua band Little Paul & the Super Vampers e in varie altre formazioni.

Paolo Ganz (aka Mr. Catfish Blues; Little Paul): a man and his harmonica.
Musician, singer, author, and composer, he is considered one of the pioneers of blues harmonica in Italy.
First of all, he has written and published educational manuals for his instrument and for blues guitar.
He has held courses and workshops in the main Italian cities, produced recordings, transcriptions, as well as lessons, and has initiated two generations of Italian harmonica players.
For over fifteen years, he has been the owner of a harmonica column in one of the major Italian music publications, and since the 1980s, he has performed on hundreds of stages in Italy, Germany, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Austria, collaborating live and especially in the studio with artists of all genres, ranging from the New Age of Riccardo Zappa to the electronics of Lyra Pramuk, under the direction of arrangers such as Francesco Magnelli (Litfiba, CCCP, CSI, Ginevra di Marco); Marco Falagiani (M. Masini, U.Tozzi, G. Bigazzi) and Claudio Mandonico (Orchestra Città di Brescia).
He has opened concerts for artists such as the legendary Frank Frost and James Cotton, Johnny Mars, Billy Branch, John Hammond, Steve Backer, and Mike Cooper, and has shared the stage with Zoot Money (Animals, Eric Burton, Mick Taylor), Dick Heckstall-Smith (Colosseum, The Graham Bond Organisation, John Mayall), Herbie Goins, and Ronnie Jones (Alexis Korner), Dave Sumner (The Primitives); with the mythical Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airman as well as with the African-American poet George Elliott Clarke.
He boasts appearances in soundtracks produced by De Laurentis, Piccioli, Cecchi Gori, and Istituto Luce under the direction of directors such as the late Francesco Nuti.
Paolo Ganz has played in three soundtracks of the Florentine actor and director Jean-Pierre Duriez, Ferzan Özpetek.
His tracks have been published by various record labels and national publications.
He has recorded vinyl and CDs for various labels (including Sony and Storie di Note) and, in addition to educational manuals, he has written about fifteen books, some dedicated to the harmonica, including Armonicomio – a tribute to the Blues Harmonica and L'estate rubata di Théo Nicholao.
He performs with his band Little Paul & the Super Vampers and in various other formations.

Er hat Kurse und Workshops in den wichtigsten Städten Italiens geleitet, Aufnahmen und Transkriptionen produziert sowie Unterricht gegeben und zwei Generationen von italienischen Harmonikaspielern initiiert.
