L'Università Popolare Alto Muson di Castelfranco Veneto è lieta di invitarvi a un affascinante ciclo di lezioni dal titolo "Grandi Donne della Storia", che si terrà nel mese di gennaio 2026. Questi incontri offriranno un’opportunità unica di esplorare la vita e l’eredità di tre figure femminili che hanno segnato profondamente il corso della storia: Caterina da Siena, Giovanna d'Arco e Caterina II di Russia, conosciuta come "La Grande".
Le lezioni saranno condotte dal Prof. Giancarlo Cunial, storico, scrittore e già sindaco di Possagno, che guiderà i partecipanti in un percorso di approfondimento su queste donne straordinarie, il cui coraggio, visione e determinazione hanno avuto un impatto duraturo su politica, cultura e spiritualità.
Il ciclo di lezioni si aprirà giovedì 15 gennaio 2026 alle 15:30, con una sessione dedicata a Caterina da Siena, una delle figure religiose più influenti del XIV secolo. La lezione esplorerà la sua vita, la sua spiritualità e il suo impegno per la riforma della Chiesa, che la portarono a diventare una delle sante patrona d'Italia e una delle voci più autorevoli del suo tempo.
La seconda lezione, che si terrà giovedì 22 gennaio 2026 alle 15:30, sarà dedicata a Giovanna d'Arco, l'eroina francese che, a soli diciannove anni, divenne il simbolo della resistenza e della lotta per la libertà durante la Guerra dei Cent’anni. Il Prof. Cunial approfondirà il suo coraggio, la sua fede incrollabile e l’influenza che ebbe sulla storia della Francia, rendendo la sua figura leggendaria.
L'ultimo incontro del ciclo si terrà giovedì 29 gennaio 2026, sempre alle 15:30, e sarà focalizzato su Caterina II di Russia, la famosa "Caterina la Grande". Questa lezione esplorerà la sua ascesa al potere, il suo ruolo nella modernizzazione della Russia e il suo impatto sulla politica e la cultura europea del XVIII secolo. Caterina la Grande è ricordata come una delle sovrane più potenti e influenti della storia.

The Alto Muson Popular University of Castelfranco Veneto is pleased to invite you to an exciting series of lectures titled "Great Women in History", which will take place in January 2026. These meetings will provide a unique opportunity to explore the lives and legacies of three female figures who profoundly shaped the course of history: Catherine of Siena, Joan of Arc, and Catherine II of Russia, known as "The Great".
The lectures will be led by Professor Giancarlo Cunial, a historian, writer, and former mayor of Possagno, who will guide participants in a journey of in-depth exploration of these extraordinary women, whose courage, vision, and determination have had a lasting impact on politics, culture, and spirituality.
The series of lectures will begin on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 3:30 PM, with a session dedicated to Catherine of Siena, one of the most influential religious figures of the 14th century. The lecture will explore her life, her spirituality, and her commitment to Church reform, which led her to become one of the patron saints of Italy and one of the most authoritative voices of her time.
The second lecture, which will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 3:30 PM, will be dedicated to Joan of Arc, the French heroine who, at the age of nineteen, became a symbol of resistance and the fight for freedom during the Hundred Years' War. Professor Cunial will delve into her courage, her unwavering faith, and the influence she had on the history of France, rendering her figure legendary.
The final meeting of the series will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, also at 3:30 PM, and will focus on Catherine II of Russia, the famed "Catherine the Great". This lecture will explore her rise to power, her role in modernizing Russia, and her impact on European politics and culture in the 18th century.
