In un’epoca in cui il melodramma dominava la scena europea, la chitarra si trasformò in un raffinato "teatro portatile", portando le celebri arie di Rossini, Bellini e Verdi dai palcoscenici fin dentro l’intimità dei salotti borghesi. Il fenomeno della trascrizione non era una pratica marginale, ma un atto creativo consapevole capace di mediare tra il virtuosismo dei grandi maestri, come Giuliani e Carulli, e le esigenze degli appassionati dell’epoca. Il seminario analizza come queste riduzioni abbiano nobilitato lo strumento, rendendo fruibile il repertorio operistico e cameristico attraverso un linguaggio idiomatico e poetico.
Dopo aver esplorato i modelli storici e il gusto dell'estetica Biedermeier, il workshop guiderà i partecipanti nella creazione pratica di nuove trascrizioni, recuperando oggi le modalità compositive e lo spirito creativo dell’Ottocento.

In an era when melodrama dominated the European stage, the guitar transformed into a refined "portable theater," bringing the famous arias of Rossini, Bellini, and Verdi from the stages into the intimacy of bourgeois salons. The phenomenon of transcription was not a marginal practice, but a conscious creative act capable of mediating between the virtuosity of great masters, such as Giuliani and Carulli, and the demands of the enthusiasts of the time. The seminar analyzes how these arrangements have elevated the instrument, making operatic and chamber repertoire accessible through an idiomatic and poetic language.
After exploring historical models and the taste of Biedermeier aesthetics, the workshop will guide participants in the practical creation of new transcriptions, recovering today the compositional methods and creative spirit of the 19th century.

Das Phänomen der Transkription war keine marginale Praxis, sondern ein bewusster kreativer Akt, der zwischen dem Virtuosentum großer Meister wie Giuliani und Carulli und den Bedürfnissen der damaligen Liebhaber vermittelte. Das Seminar analysiert, wie diese Reduktionen das Instrument aufgewertet haben, indem sie das Opern- und Kammermusikrepertoire durch eine idiomatische und poetische Sprache zugänglich machten.
Nach der Erkundung historischer Modelle und des Geschmacks der Biedermeier-Ästhetik wird der Workshop die Teilnehmer bei der praktischen Erstellung neuer Transkriptionen anleiten und dabei die kompositorischen Methoden und den kreativen Geist des 19. Jahrhunderts wiederbeleben.
