Caorle conserva il suo aspetto caratteristico di città di mare e ancora oggi la pesca viene praticata da una parte dei suoi cittadini: la flotta peschereccia vanta, infatti, circa un centinaio di imbarcazioni. I pescatori escono con le loro barche di notte o all’alba ed il porto rimane vuoto per tutta la giornata, fino al loro rientro. Il pesce viene scaricato al Mercato Ittico Comunale situato in Riva delle Caorline, adiacente al porto, per essere poi venduto sia agli operatori, con un secolare sistema di vendita detto asta “ad orecchio”, sia al pubblico, nelle prime ore del mattino.
In the past local people have always lived on fishing, an activity that is still practiced nowadays.
The port is one of the most picturesque places of Caorle; here are moored the fishing-boats (actuallyaround one hundred units); during the day it is possible to see the fishermen come back and unload their fish, ready to be sold at the Fish Market, in Riva delle Caorline, where the traditional “ear” auction takes place and the fish is sold to the operators. In the morning a retail market is also available for the public.
Die Stadt behält ihren traditionellen Charakter als Stadt am Meer und noch immer ist die Fischerei einer der Hauptaktivitäten der Bevölkerung. Die Fischereiflotte verfügt über mehr als 100 Boote. Die Fischer fahren mit ihren Booten in der Dämmerung oder bei Nacht hinaus aufs Meer und der Hafen bleibt im Laufe des Tages bis zu ihrer Rückkehr leer.
Der Fisch wird auf dem Fischmarkt ausgeladen, dessen Sitz sich in Riva delle Caorline befindet, um an die Hoteliers oder Restaurants durch die traditionelle Auktion "nach Gehör" verkauft zu werden und an die Öffentlichkeit, in den frühen Morgenstunden.
