Fin dal XVIII secolo Canale d’Agordo festeggia il patrono della Pieve, San Giovanni Battista, con una grande sagra paesana, un momento di festa ed allegria per tutta la comunità e i visitatori.

La ricorrenza è da sempre molto sentita e partecipata dalla popolazione dell’intera Valle del Biois che proprio in questa occasione svolgeva un tempo rituali particolari, pieni di significato.

Ne è un esempio “l’Acqua di San Giovanni”, rito propiziatorio e purificatore che secondo la tradizione portava amore e salute allontanando malattie e calamità. Quest’acqua veniva infatti preparata con fiori ed erbe spontanee di montagna e restava tutta la notte del 23 giugno all’aperto. La mattina del 24 era usata per lavare mani e viso.

La sagra si svolgerà dal 20 al 24 giugno (tranne il 23), è la seconda dell’Agordino, dopo la sagra di Sant’Antonio a Rivamonte e precede di pochi giorni quella dei Santi Pietro e Paolo di Agordo.

Da trent’anni a questa parte è previsto l’allestimento di un tendone che offre piatti della tradizione tra cui l’immancabile frittura di pesce e spettacoli di intrattenimento musicale, con gruppi di liscio, dj set, musica folk e cover band.

Il tendone sarà collocato nella piazza principale del capoluogo, intitolata al Beato Papa Luciani, in prossimità del Museo a lui dedicato e della sua casa natale.

Il luna park occuperà Piazza Salvatore Serafini, mentre il giorno della sagra, sabato 24 giugno, fin dalle prime luci del giorno le bancarelle del tradizionale mercato riempiranno e animeranno le vie di questo piccolo borgo ricco di storia e cultura incastonato nelle Dolomiti.

Sarà, inoltre, presente la consueta pesca di beneficenza a favore dell’asilo parrocchiale di Canale d’Agordo, fondato nel 1868 dall’illuminato arciprete della Pieve, Cavalier Don Antonio Della Lucia e primo esempio di asilo rurale dell’intera Provincia di Belluno, ancora oggi in attività.

Since the 18th century, Canale d’Agordo has celebrated the patron of the Parish, St. John the Baptist, with a large village festival, a moment of joy and celebration for the entire community and visitors.

The event has always been deeply felt and participated by the population of the entire Biois Valley, which performed particular rituals full of meaning on this occasion.

An example is “St. John's Water,” a propitious and purifying rite that, according to tradition, brought love and health while driving away diseases and calamities. This water was prepared with wild mountain flowers and herbs and was left outdoors all night on June 23rd. The morning of June 24th, it was used to wash hands and face.

The festival will take place from June 20 to 24 (except June 23). It is the second in the Agordino, after the festival of Sant’Antonio in Rivamonte and precedes the one for Saints Peter and Paul in Agordo by a few days.

For the past thirty years, a tent has been set up offering traditional dishes, including the unmissable fried fish and musical entertainment shows, featuring ballroom dance groups, DJ sets, folk music, and cover bands.

The tent will be located in the main square of the capital, named after Blessed Pope Luciani, near the museum dedicated to him and his birthplace.

The amusement park will occupy Piazza Salvatore Serafini, while on the day of the festival, Saturday, June 24th, the stalls of the traditional market will fill and enliven the streets of this small village rich in history and culture nestled in the Dolomites.

Additionally, there will be a customary charity raffle in favor of the parish nursery of Canale d’Agordo, founded in 1868 by the enlightened archpriest of the Parish, Cavalier Don Antonio Della Lucia, and the first example of a rural nursery in the entire Province of Belluno, still in operation today.

Seit dem XVIII. Jahrhundert feiert Canale d’Agordo den Schutzpatron der Pfarrei, San Giovanni Battista, mit einem großen Dorffest, einem Moment der Feier und Freude für die gesamte Gemeinschaft und die Besucher.

Der Feiertag wird seit jeher von der Bevölkerung des gesamten Biois-Tals stark gelebt und ist Anlass für besondere, bedeutungsvolle Rituale.

Ein Beispiel dafür ist "das Wasser von San Giovanni", ein bringendes und reinigendes Ritual, das nach Tradition Liebe und Gesundheit verleihen und Krankheiten und Katastrophen abwehren sollte. Dieses Wasser wurde nämlich mit Bergblumen und -kräutern zubereitet und blieb die ganze Nacht des 23. Juni im Freien. Am Morgen des 24. wurde es verwendet, um Hände und Gesicht zu waschen.

Das Fest findet vom 20. bis zum 24. Juni (außer am 23.) statt, es ist das zweite Fest im Agordino, nach dem Fest von Sant’Antonio in Rivamonte und liegt nur wenige Tage vor dem Fest der Heiligen Petrus und Paulus in Agordo.

Seit dreißig Jahren wird ein Zelt aufgestellt, das traditionelle Gerichte anbietet, darunter die unverzichtbare Fischbraterei und Unterhaltungsprogramme mit Tanzmusik, DJ-Sets, Folkloremusik und Coverbands.

Das Zelt wird auf dem Hauptplatz des Hauptortes, der dem Seligen Papst Luciani gewidmet ist, in der Nähe des ihm gewidmeten Museums und seines Geburtshauses aufgestellt.

Der Jahrmarkt wird den Platz Salvatore Serafini einnehmen, während am Tag des Festes, Samstag, den 24. Juni, bereits bei den ersten Lichtern des Tages die Stände des traditionellen Marktes die Straßen dieses kleinen, geschichtsträchtigen und kulturellen Dorfes in den Dolomiten füllen und beleben werden.

Zudem wird die gewohnte Wohltätigkeitsverlosung zu Gunsten des Pfarrkindergartens von Canale d’Agordo, gegründet 1868 vom aufgeklärten Dekan der Pfarrei, Ritter Don Antonio Della Lucia, dem ersten Beispiel eines ländlichen Kindergartens in der gesamten Provinz Belluno, der auch heute noch aktiv ist, vorhanden sein.
