Descrizione

The presentation is about the book edited by Enrico Moro, the result of research conducted by a group of enthusiasts aimed at deepening the local history.
The work studies the origin and meaning of the names of streets, squares, districts, towns, and places located along the path of the Brenta River, from the area of Stra to the lagoon of Venice, near Fusina.
Behind the toponyms of this territory often lie historical traces, illustrious figures, ancient productive activities, or the original configuration of the river and agricultural landscape.
Many names derive from water management, the embankments, the river ports, the mills, or the old ferries and boats that once traversed the Brenta before the advent of modern roads.
The Venetian nobility chose the Riviera del Brenta as a holiday destination, so numerous toponyms retain the names of the Venetian noble families that owned the lands or villas.
Other names of districts and streets evoke ancient Roman settlements, enclosed fields, the geometry of agricultural plots, or the flora and fauna of the past.
The initiative is promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Campagna Lupia in collaboration with the Riviera al Fronte Association, the Local Landscape Observatory of the Riviera del Brenta, and the RdB Culture Associations.
