L’Olt della Val d’Arc è una arco naturale in roccia, meraviglioso monumento ottenuto dal lento ma costante lavorio della natura. Oltre ad essere uno straordinario esempio di forma geologica, il ponte in pietra rappresenta una testimonianza di importanti fatti storici. Passa proprio lungo la volta dell’arco il confine tra i Comuni di Mel e di Miane e quindi tra le Provincie di Belluno e Treviso. Fu proprio qui che nel 1838, dopo periodi di grandi diatribe, si scelse di demarcare la linea di spartizione tra i due territori. A memoria di ciò sono state incise nella roccia della volta le seguenti parole: “Questo giorno 6 giugno 1838 – dopo una contesa di più secoli – venne transatta ogni differenza tra – la Comune di Mel e quella di Miane – sul possesso e proprietà di questo monte – tracciando linea di separazione che si veda – marcata dai termini collocati – a dritta e a sinistra di questo ponte – Miane Provincia di Treviso”. L’Olt de Val d’Arc è raggiungibile sia dalla strada che corre sul crinale prealpino, tra Malga Canidi e Malga Mont, attraverso il sentiero 3, che imboccando il medesimo sentiero dal parcheggio di Val d’Arc, raggiungibile passando per Villa di Villa e quindi per la località Boz.
Olt de Val d’Arc is a natural vault hewn out of the rock, an extraordinary monument obtained by the slow but constant work of nature. As well as being an exceptional geological phenomenon, the stone bridge also has historical relevance. The boundary between the municipalities of Mel and Miane, and therefore between the provinces of Belluno and Treviso, runs along the arch’s vault. This was the very spot where, in 1838, after years of ferocious disputes, the dividing line between the two areas was finally established. To mark the momentous occasion, the following words were carved into the rock of the vault: “On this day 6 June 1838 – after centuries of dispute – all differences between the municipalities - of Mel and Miane regarding the possession – and property of this hill were settled – by marking a dividing line which can be seen – marked by these words – to the right and left of this bridge – Miane Province of Treviso”. The Olt de Val d’Arc can be reached from the road which runs along the pre-Alps ridge between Malga Canidi and Malga Mont, along footpath 3, or by taking the same footpath from the car park at Val d’Arc, reached by going through Villa di Villa and Boz.
