Veneziano, classe 1960, Sergio Polito in arte “SirJoe” inizia a suonare la chitarra a tredici anni.
Approfondisce la conoscenza di molti protagonisti della musica americana, fino ad arrivare al suo maggior ispiratore, Ry Cooder.
Nel 1986 forma con alcuni amici una band elettrica, che di lì a poco darà vita ai B–Wops, una delle realtà più importanti del rock–blues veneziano, ancor oggi attiva, capace di fondere in modo originale rhythm & blues, rock ’n’ roll, soul, country, blues e gospel.
Il gruppo ha pubblicato due album. L’amore sempre vivo per la musica acustica delle origini lo spinge a mettersi in gioco in prima persona e pubblica il primo album da leader: My Friend Ry nel 2021, tributo alla musica del suo idolo Ry Cooder.
Nel settembre 2025 esce il suo secondo album da leader, Black & White, lavoro ancor più vero ed originale, nove dei dodici brani presenti sono di sua composizione.
Lo completano tre cover, tributi sentiti e molto personali a musicisti che l’hanno fortemente influenzato, ovvero Tom Waits, Stephen Stills e soprattutto David Crosby.
«Black & White» ci conferma che SirJoe Polito è un cantante ormai maturo e sicuro dei propri mezzi, oltre che un eccellente chitarrista (ma questo gli appassionati già lo sapevano).

Born in Venice in 1960, Sergio Polito artistically known as “SirJoe,” began playing guitar at thirteen.
He deepens his knowledge of many protagonists of American music, culminating in his greatest inspiration, Ry Cooder.
In 1986, he forms an electric band with some friends, which will soon give birth to the B–Wops, one of the most important realities of Venetian rock-blues, still active today, capable of originally blending rhythm & blues, rock ’n’ roll, soul, country, blues, and gospel.
The band has released two albums. His ever-living love for the acoustic music of his origins pushes him to take the stage himself, resulting in the release of his first album as a leader: My Friend Ry in 2021, a tribute to the music of his idol Ry Cooder.
In September 2025, his second album as a leader, Black & White, is released, a work even more genuine and original, with nine of the twelve tracks being his own compositions.
It is completed by three covers, heartfelt and very personal tributes to musicians who have greatly influenced him: Tom Waits, Stephen Stills, and especially David Crosby.
«Black & White» confirms that SirJoe Polito is now a mature and confident singer, as well as an excellent guitarist (but the enthusiasts already knew that).

Venezianer, Jahrgang 1960, Sergio Polito in Kunst “SirJoe” beginnt mit dreizehn Jahren Gitarre zu spielen.
Er vertieft sein Wissen über viele Protagonisten der amerikanischen Musik, bis er zu seinem größten Inspirationsgeber, Ry Cooder, gelangt.
1986 gründet er mit einigen Freunden eine Band, die bald zu den B–Wops werden wird, einer der bedeutendsten Rock–Blues-Formationen Venezian, die bis heute aktiv ist und es versteht, rhythm & blues, rock ’n’ roll, soul, country, blues und gospel auf originelle Weise zu fusionieren.
Die Gruppe hat zwei Alben veröffentlicht. Die stets lebendige Liebe zur akustischen Musik der Ursprünge treibt ihn dazu, sich selbst in den Vordergrund zu stellen, und er veröffentlicht 2021 sein erstes Album als Bandleader: My Friend Ry, eine Hommage an die Musik seines Idols Ry Cooder.
Im September 2025 erscheint sein zweites Album als Bandleader, Black & White, ein noch wahrhaftigeres und originelleres Werk, neun der zwölf enthaltenen Stücke sind von ihm komponiert.
Es wird durch drei Cover ergänzt, die gefühlvolle und sehr persönliche Hommagen an Musiker sind, die ihn stark beeinflusst haben, nämlich Tom Waits, Stephen Stills und vor allem David Crosby.
«Black & White» bestätigt uns, dass SirJoe Polito ein mittlerweile reifer und sicherer Sänger ist, sowie ein ausgezeichneter Gitarrist (aber das wussten die Fans schon).
