Descrizione
Situato all'imbocco della Val Sarentina, a nord della città, il castello è comodamente raggiungibile a piedi percorrendo la verde passeggiata del Lungo Talvera oppure in bicicletta lungo la pista ciclabile. Collegamenti anche con il bus di linea n° 12 (festivi nr. 14), e con lo shuttle gratuito da Piazza Walther (per informazioni rivolgersi all'Azienda di Soggiorno di Bolzano). Alla base del castello si trova il parcheggio per automobili e biciclette. Edificato nel 1237 su uno spuntone di roccia, il castello è stato più volte ampliato e restaurato e conserva splendidi affreschi che narrano scene di vita cortese, episodi di caccia, tornei cavallereschi e momenti di vita quotidiana. Non mancano gli spunti letterari come la rappresentazione delle avventure di Tristano e Isotta e quelle di Artù con i suoi Cavalieri della Tavola Rotonda. Trattasi del ciclo di affreschi a soggetto profano più grande e meglio conservato del Medioevo. Molto interessanti anche le manifestazioni culturali e le mostre che animano periodicamente la corte e le sale del castello. All'interno un servizio di ristorazione offre la possibilità di degustare gastronomia tipica locale in un ambiente medievale.
At the beginning of the Sarntal Valley you'll find Runkelstein Castle, on the northern outskirts of town. You can easily get there on foot walking the lush green Talfer promenade or using a bike by taking the bike path. You can also hop on number 12 bus (Sunday Nr. 14), as well as the free shuttle departing from Walther Square (for further information contact Bolzano's Tourism Office). At the foot of the castle you'll find parking space for cars and bikes. Built in 1237 on a jutting edge of rock, the castle has been worked on and enlarged many times over and it boasts a collection of beautiful frescoes, depicting life scenes from court, hunting parties, knightly tournaments and scenes from everyday life. Literary depictions are not missing, as they also illustrate the adventures of Tristan and Isolda and those of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. It is the biggest collection of profane frescoes and the best preserved one of the Middle Age. There are always some interesting cultural events going on at the castle, wich from time to time liven up the halls and court of Roncolo. A restaurant offers the chance to taste local dishes in a medieval setting.
Schloss Runkelstein steht am Eingang des Sarntals im Norden der Stadt. Es wurde 1237 auf einem Felsvorsprung erbaut, später mehrmals erweitert und restauriert. Seine Gemäuer bergen prächtige Fresken mit Szenen aus dem höfischen Leben, erzählen von der Jagd, von Ritterturnieren und vom mittelalterlichen Alltag. Auch fehlt es nicht an literarischen Anspielungen, z.B. jene an die Abenteuer von Tristan und Isolde, jene an König Arthus und den Rittern der Tafelrunde.
Beim Freskenzyklus von Schloss Runkelstein handelt es sich um den weltweit umfangreichsten gut erhaltenen profanen Bilderzyklus des Mittelalters.
Die Burg ist zu Fuß über die Talferpromenade oder mit dem Fahrrad auf dem entsprechenden Radweg leicht erreichbar. Busverbindungen erleichtern einen Besuch: die städtische Linie Nr. 12 (Sonntags Nr. 14) und der kostenlose Schuttle-Dienst ab dem Waltherplatz (Infos im Verkehrsamt der Stadt Bozen). Am Fuß der Schlossanlage befindet sich ein Parkplatz für PKWs und Fahrräder.
Regelmäßig beleben interessante Veranstaltungen und Ausstellungen den Innenhof und die Säle des Schlosses. Die Burgschänke bietet darüber hinaus die Möglichkeit, typische Gerichte der Südtiroler Küche in einem mittelalterlichen Ambiente zu genießen.
