Fondato a Francoforte nel 2014, nel corso dei suoi 10 anni di attività l’Eliot Quartett si è affermato come uno degli ensemble di punta sulla scena internazionale del quartetto d’archi. Dopo aver ottenuto riconoscimenti in concorsi internazionali, nella stagione 2024/2025 realizzano un sogno: eseguire tutti i quartetti per archi di Šostakovič. Il Quartetto prende il nome dallo scrittore americano T.S. Eliot, che trasse ispirazione dai quartetti per archi di Ludwig van Beethoven.
Il programma prende avvio con la Grande Fuga di Beethoven, dove il compositore, giunto al ciclo degli ultimi quartetti, raggiunge uno degli esempi più alti della polifonia strumentale d'ogni tempo.
Segue l’ultimo dei quartetti per archi di Franz Schubert, ove il ruolo predominante del violoncello definisce il “colore” complessivo del brano.
Per finire con il compositore moravo Pavel Haas e la sua From the Monkey Mountains che lui stesso definì come "un'opera spensierata dominata dall'impeto del movimento”. Fu tra i musicisti ebrei deportati nel famigerato campo di concentramento di Terezín, e assassinato ad Auschwitz.

Founded in Frankfurt in 2014, over its 10 years of activity the Eliot Quartet has established itself as one of the leading ensembles on the international string quartet scene. After receiving recognition in international competitions, in the 2024/2025 season they will realize a dream: to perform all the string quartets by Šostakovič.
