Come arrivare:
dal centro di Auronzo, una volta giunti in Piazza Vigo, si svolta a sinistra e si percorre via Zardus fino a raggiungere le sponde del lago. Da qui si accede alla passeggiata del Lungo Lago Lario che costeggia le rive del lago. D'estate è interdetta alle biciclette.

Il lago di Santa Caterina è un bacino artificiale, costruito per produrre energia elettrica e prende il nome dalla chiesetta cinquecentesca che sorge nelle adiacenze dell'omonima diga. La diga chiude un bacino imbrifero di 225 kilometri quadrati e forma un serbatoio di 55.000 di metri cubi d’acqua. La profondità massima del lago è di 49 metri. L'invaso prodotto dallo sbarramento del torrente Ansiei coi suoi undici affluenti è lungo circa due chilometri. La costruzione del lago artificiale portò notevoli vantaggi al paese, in particolare per il turismo. Sulle acque del lago si svolgono i campionati di Canoa e altre manifestazioni. Le sponde del lago sono percorribili, consentendo ai turisti di effettuare una bellissima passeggiata attorno ad uno dei più bei laghi alpini del Cadore.
Directions: start in the square Piazza Vigo in the centre of Auronzo then turn left and go along via Zardus until you reach the lake. Visitors can enjoy a walk along the lakeside following the ‘Lungo Lago Lario’ path which is off-limits to bikes in the summer.
Description:
Santa Caterina Lake is a reservoir which was built to generate electricity and is named after the sixteenth-century church which stands near the dam of the same name. The damming of the river Ansiei and its eleven tributaries has created a reservoir where rainwater is collected covering 225 square kilometres and holding 55,000 cubic metres of water. The maximum depth of the lake is 49 metres and it is about two kilometres long. The building of the reservoir has brought great benefits to the town, especially as regards tourism. Canoeing championships are held on the lake, as well as other water sports, and tourists can enjoy a lovely walk around one of the most beautiful Alpine lakes in the Cadore area.
Anfahrt: Aus der Ortsmitte von Auronzo kommend biegt man an der Piazza Vigo links in die Via Zardus ein, der man bis zum Seeufer folgt. Hier beginnt der Spazierweg Lungo Lago Lario, der am Seeufer entlangführt. Im Sommer sind hier Fahrräder verboten.

Der Lago di Santa Caterina ist ein Stausee, der zur Stromgewinnung erbaut wurde und nach der kleinen Kirche aus dem 16. Jahrhundert benannt wurde, die in der Nähe der Staumauer steht. Der Stausee umfasst ein Sammelbecken von 225 Quadratkilometern, das 55.000 Kubikmeter Wasser speichern kann. Die maximale Tiefe des Sees beträgt 49 Meter. Der Staubereich, der durch den Sturzbach Ansiei mit seinen elf Zuflüssen gespeist wird, ist ungefähr zwei Kilometer lang. Der Bau des Stausees hat dem Ort zahlreichen Vorteile gebracht, vor allem im Hinblick auf den Tourismus. Auf dem See werden u. a. die Kanu-Meisterschaften ausgetragen. Ein Weg führt um den See, so dass sich Touristen ein herrlicher Spaziergang um einen der schönsten Alpenseen des Cadore bietet.
