Dario (Riccardo Scamarcio) è padre di un bambino disabile, al quale dedica ogni cura e attenzione, e ha un legame profondo con il figlio adolescente di suo fratello. La crescente complicità con il nipote lo porta a riconoscere in lui il figlio che avrebbe voluto avere e, quasi inconsapevolmente, ad assumere il ruolo del padre che avrebbe potuto essere. Ma questo gioco di proiezioni, bisogni e desideri inespressi altera progressivamente il suo equilibrio interiore e mette in discussione il rapporto con il proprio figlio. Quella che sembra una relazione affettuosa e innocente si trasforma così in un legame ambiguo e pericoloso, capace di travolgere gli equilibri dell’intera famiglia.

Dario (Riccardo Scamarcio) is the father of a disabled child, to whom he dedicates all care and attention, and he has a deep bond with his brother's teenage son. The growing complicity with his nephew leads him to recognize in him the son he wished he had and, almost unconsciously, to take on the role of the father he could have been. But this game of projections, unexpressed needs, and desires progressively alters his inner balance and questions the relationship with his own son. What seems like an affectionate and innocent relationship thus transforms into an ambiguous and dangerous bond, capable of overwhelming the balances of the whole family.

Dario (Riccardo Scamarcio) ist Vater eines behinderten Kindes, dem er jede Pflege und Aufmerksamkeit widmet, und hat eine tiefe Bindung zu dem jugendlichen Sohn seines Bruders. Die wachsende Vertrautheit mit dem Neffen führt ihn dazu, in ihm den Sohn zu erkennen, den er gerne gehabt hätte und, fast unbewusst, die Rolle des Vaters zu übernehmen, der er hätte sein können. Doch dieses Spiel von Projektionen, Bedürfnissen und unausgesprochenen Wünschen verändert allmählich sein inneres Gleichgewicht und stellt die Beziehung zu seinem eigenen Sohn in Frage. Was zunächst wie eine liebevolle und unschuldige Beziehung erscheint, verwandelt sich in ein ambiguöses und gefährliches Band, das das Gleichgewicht der gesamten Familie ins Wanken bringen kann.
