Sicilia, oggi. Arturo è un agente immobiliare quasi infallibile nel suo lavoro, molto meno nella vita sentimentale. Vive da solo, è piuttosto sfiduciato e coltiva un'unica, incrollabile passione: i dolci. La sua vita si illumina quando incontra quella che è, senza dubbio, la sua anima gemella. Flora è perfetta: bella, divertente, gentile, brillante... ed è pure pasticciera. Tra loro nasce un amore immediato e travolgente. A dividerli, però, c'è una presenza invisibile ma potentissima: Dio. Flora è una cattolica fervente, mentre Arturo ha smesso di credere da bambino. Pur di non perdere la donna della sua vita, sceglie di fingersi credente e intraprende un percorso sentimentale e spirituale che lo porterà a confrontarsi con la fede e con la verità. Questa volta, però, non è solo: ad accompagnarlo c'è un complice davvero inatteso, il Papa.

In order to not lose the woman of his life, he chooses to pretend to be a believer and embarks on a sentimental and spiritual journey that will lead him to confront faith and truth. This time, however, he is not alone: an unexpected accomplice is by his side, the Pope.

Er lebt alleine, ist ziemlich entmutigt und hegt eine einzige, unerschütterliche Leidenschaft: Süßigkeiten. Sein Leben erhellt sich, als er die trifft, die ohne Zweifel seine Seelenverwandte ist. Flora ist perfekt: schön, lustig, freundlich, clever... und sie ist auch Konditorin. Zwischen ihnen entflammt eine sofortige und überwältigende Liebe. Doch eine unsichtbare, aber äußerst mächtige Präsenz trennt sie: Gott. Flora ist eine glühende Katholikin, während Arturo seit seiner Kindheit aufgehört hat zu glauben. Um die Frau seines Lebens nicht zu verlieren, beschließt er, sich gläubig zu geben und begibt sich auf einen emotionalen und spirituellen Weg, der ihn dazu bringen wird, sich mit dem Glauben und der Wahrheit auseinanderzusetzen. Diesmal ist er jedoch nicht allein: An seiner Seite ist ein wirklich unerwarteter Komplize, der Papst.
