Un maestro indiscusso del teatro, Toni Servillo, e un celebre premio oscar per le colonne sonore, Nicola Piovani, danno vita a una breve commedia inedita in cui Eduardo affronta con ironia e amarezza uno dei suoi temi più ricorrenti: la famiglia e le illusioni che la tengono insieme.
Con ironia e amarezza racconta le contraddizioni della società e delle istituzioni religiose.
Attraverso situazioni paradossali, l’opera mette in luce ipocrisie e fragilità umane, tra comicità e riflessione morale, in dialogo tra parola e orchestra: voci e musica si intrecciano fino a diventare un’unica esperienza emotiva con tutta la forza poetica e umana dell’opera eduardiana, trasformando la narrazione in un viaggio intenso e suggestivo, dove il suono amplifica il significato delle parole e il teatro si fa concerto.
Anche nei testi più brevi, cosiddetti “minori”, come è questo Padre Cicogna, del 1969, si tratteggia uno scorcio di umanità: la storia di un prete che rinuncia all’abito talare, sposa la donna amata, pronuncia nudo di fronte alla croce un voto che non riuscirà a rispettare, per poi subire l’isolamento sociale.

Ein unbestrittener Meister des Theaters, Toni Servillo, und ein berühmter Oscar-Preisträger für Filmmusik, Nicola Piovani, erwecken eine kurze, unveröffentlichte Komödie zum Leben, in der Eduardo mit Ironie und Bitterkeit eines seiner häufigsten Themen anspricht: die Familie und die Illusionen, die sie zusammenhalten.
Mit Ironie und Bitterkeit erzählt er von den Widersprüchen der Gesellschaft und der religiösen Institutionen.

Auch in den kürzeren, sogenannten „geringeren“ Texten, wie diesem Vater Cicogna von 1969, zeichnet sich ein Stück Menschlichkeit ab: die Geschichte eines Priesters, der das Gewand ablegt, die geliebte Frau heiratet, nackt vor dem Kreuz ein Gelübde ablegt, das er nicht einhalten kann, um dann soziale Isolation zu erleiden.
