Prima assoluta italiana per il lavoro di Declan Donnellan, considerato a livello internazionale uno dei più importanti e autorevoli registi contemporanei dei testi di Shakespeare.
Se Shakespeare è uno degli artefici dell’anima umana moderna, come sostiene Harold Bloom, ne “I due gentiluomini di Verona” inizierà a sviluppare molti degli elementi che definiranno questa concezione dell’essere umano.
Los dos Hidalgos è una delle prime commedie in cui affina le tensioni tra amicizia e amore, tensioni che occupavano uno spazio significativo nella letteratura del tardo Rinascimento.
L’amicizia, intesa come una forma di amore asessuata, veniva analizzata da molteplici prospettive e esaltata come una forma di forte impegno sentimentale in contrapposizione alle relazioni amorose.
